This is a simple variant to tone down the difficulty of the King in Yellow Herald very slightly, and give the players a few more choices to make.

During setup, mix the 20 Doom tokens and 10 Yellow signs in a cup or bag.

During the game, whenever you are instructed to add a doom token to the Ancient One's doom track, or, whenever you are instructed to raise the Terror level, draw a token at random from this bag. If it's a doom token, then either place it on the doom track or increase the terror track as you normally would. This is no different from the regular game. If you draw a yellow sign, then, just as it is on the Herald card, you have the option of placing it on the Ancient One's doom track or on the Terror track. If you choose the Terror track, then draw a Blight card as normal. If you add a yellow sign to the Doom track, then it works just like a normal Doom token.

Optionally, you cannot use an Elder sign unique item to remove a Yellow Sign from the doom track. So, if the last token on the doom is a Yellow sign, the Elder sign card can't be used until another, regular doom token is added to the track.

If you are instructed to use doom tokens for any other reason, for example, adding to rumor cards or sealing gates with clues, then don't draw randomly from the bag, just take a doom token. This is so the yellow signs aren't diluted without taking effect.
