I know it follows the rules of being adjacent to two others but it blocks other tiles from fitting.

Seems good, still allows for other tiles to be placed legally but leaves a gap, I think it's great.

Only rule on tile placement is that it should connect with 2 other tiles. Based on the fact it is, then it would be legal.

Never occured to me to take advantage of tile placement like this ... it's a competitive game after all.

If another tile were placed to leave a gap in the middle of the board, just think of it as a big lake that no one can occupy.
