WBC 2019 CENTURY EVENTS REVEALED: Based on attendance and player hours at WBC 2018, the Century group has been identified for the 2019 WBC. The top 100 events along with 11 Legacy events will make up the Century group. For a complete list of the Century group, visit http://www.boardgamers.org/wbc_preparation_pelorphans.html .
CALL FOR NEW EVENTS FOR 2019: November is the time to submit an event form to get a new event into WBC 2019. In order to have your event appear on the annual membership form it must be submitted by a committed GM between November 1st and November 25th. This is the only way to get a new event onto the ballot for WBC 2019 Trial voting. Please complete the form carefully and completely since it will be used to determine event location in 2019 if successfully voted in. Event forms for the Century group may be submitted once the membership drive starts on December 3rd. Voting for trials will end on January 31, 2019.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE FOR 2019 WILL OPEN ON DECEMBER 3rd: The BPA annual membership drive will open on December 3, 2018. Online membership will remain open until June 15, 2019. Price increases will occur on January 31st, March 31st, and June 15th, 2019. To be eligible to vote for the 25 Trial events, you must join by January 31st, 2019. To receive a price before it increases, you must submit the online membership application which will be available on the BPA website and send payment by the date listed (Paypal payment sent or check postmarked by the 3 dates listed).
WBC HONORS: The coming months will unveil our annual awards for Sportsmanship and GM of the Year but we can’t do them justice without your input. Take a moment to tell us why someone you encountered should be considered for the Sportsmanship or GM of the Year Award by emailing us at email@example.com by November 25, 2018.
WBC EVENT REPORTS, EVENT HISTORY & LAURELS, AND WINNERS PAGES IN PROGRESS: The Event Reports, Event History & Laurels, and Winners pages for the 2018 events are being loaded. The pages for the numbers, A’s, B’s, and recently completed email tournaments are posted and can be found at http://www.boardgamers.org/yearbook18/ . The page shows the date each game was updated so you can see the new events as they are added. All pages should be updated by mid-November.

WARSZAWSKI TRIUMPHANT IN TWILIGHT STRUGGLE TOURNAMENT: Aran Warszawski was victorious in the Cold War as his Russians defeated David Schneider’s Americans to capture the Twilight Struggle PBeM Title. The remaining laurelists, in order, were Mike Turian, Anthony Shaeen, Antero Kuusi, and Jean-Louis Dirion. THROUGH THE AGES TITLE GOES TO JOHN CORRADO: John Corrado defeated Allan Jiang, Andreas Kroll, and Aran Warszawski in the final to claim the first Through The Ages PBeM Title. The laurelists were, in order, John Corrado, Allan Jiang, Andreas Kroll, Aran Warsawski, Robb Effinger, and Haim Hochboim. PACHECO CAPTURES WAR AT SEA TITLE: Mike Pacheco defeated Mike Brophy to capture the War at Sea PBeM Tournament. The remaining laurelists, in order, were Jonathan Lockwood, Karl Bodenheimer, Tim Tow, and Don Greenwood. PATHS OF GLORY ENTERS ROUND FOUR: The leaves are falling; as are the POG tournament competitors. Five of our nine matches have completed, seven of our eleven participants for the next round have been identified. VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC: The USN adds to its dominance with a 3-1 showing in the quarterfinals. Three of the top four seeds are also eliminated as none of the games go past Turn Six. Vince Meconi, the top seed, is eliminated by a surprise British win in Indonesia on Turn Two followed by a crushing Allied LBA win to save Pearl Harbor on Turn Three. Alan Applebaum is the highest seed remaining followed by Dennis Nicholson, Tim Tow, and Wayne Bonnett. Wayne keeps his dark horse status moving forward by having more aircraft carriers alive as the USN at the end of Turn Five than the IJN. TIME FOR ANOTHER MARCH MADNESS COMPETITION: The 17th annual BPA March Madness PBeM tournament will start with the draft on November 24, 2018. All players receive two teams, so are guaranteed at least two games in the event. The format is single elimination until a champion is crowned, usually in late spring. NAPOLEONIC WARS TO START IN JANUARY: The next Napoleonic wars tournament will start on January 5, 2019. WBC GM Gareth Williams will be GMing this tournament. WASHINGTON’S WAR TO BEGIN IN JANUARY: Washington’s War Ladder leader Bill Peeck will begin the next Washington’s War PBeM tournament on January 1, 2019. SURVEY FOR POTENTIAL HANNIBAL TOURNAMENT: One of our members has created a survey to determine if there is enough interest for a Hannibal PBeM tournament. The survey is at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/62X5SZ8 and will close on November 15, 2018.

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.
All multi-day paid attendees to WBC are current BPA members for the balance of that calendar year.
BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby as you do. Get involved.
