Is this a straight card game or does it include "bits"?

Just curious, can't wait to get into this.

My favorite 18xx game for six players is two games of 1846 with three players each.

J C, I thought there were VP chips as well, but I haven't seen the final prototype.

Good point. I've only seen early prototypes.

It has been mentioned that the base set would include VP chits, but that was a while back.

The base set does include VP chips, according to the designer.

Finally someone makes a box that was designed to fit the expansions! So many games don't do that even though they have enough room in the box. Custom inserts that could of been designed to hold more cards but don't. My Runebound boxes are overflowing with cards!

I remember when SJG made the big box version of ChezGeek that would fit all the expansions together, nice to see others are doing it.

Oh, so that's the rationale for the box being bigger than the game. I wonder how many expansions were planned for El Caballero. Had to have been at least a dozen, based on the size of the box.

According to the Abacus website, it's 276 x 190 x 68mm.

That's the same size as the 2006 Abacus/RGG Medici, or the same size as Mykerinos but a little deeper.

Are the cards in the Abacus version in English or in German?

The Abacus/RGG version has both English and German rules and summary sheets, but only English cards.
