Permanent insta-bans flying around lately too.

Pete (will have to be extra careful what he says lest it be misconstrued.

I'm going to have to stop quoting people. I had a couple good posts that got removed because I quoted the OP.

67 removed posts.
44 posts not removed.

(A rough quick count. The numbers might be off a bit.)

I've been thinking the same thing with this recent change. BGG isn't a good outlet for voyeur drama anymore.

Yea, it would be preferable if they just deleted the quoted part.

Apparently, my New Years resolution to avoid contentious topics is working. I haven't seen a single removed post in a year. AND I haven't been banned in years.

That would appear to have been the Stuka squabble. It was complete shit, not even vaguely worth calling a train-wreck. Seriously, two internet warriors yelling at each other about who was or wasn't using legit WW2 stats. That's the sort of thing that gets wargamers their bad reputation.

-edit- Nope, it was just another misogynst shit that just happened to have removals in much the same pattern as another thread from yesterday

Well, that's the point ain't it? It could be any of them.

Pete (supposes that's the intent)

No, no, the specific pattern of "Post removed" and "Quoting removed post" is like a fingerprint. The fun new game is to correctly ID the thread.

This.

First one to identify the thread, wins.

Since you're here Octavian - the deleted posts can still be read via the user's RSS feed. I raised it once before, but I didn't get any feedback.

More like: Trainwrecks are being cleared away now. I took some snapshots, but others can't see them.

Heh, followed the link and that thread is pretty much unreadable as a discussion, looks like something the government grudgingly released under freedom of information but redacted it heavily beforehand so you cant learn anything from it.

I would say that if you are going to delete the opening comment in a thread you may as well delete the whole thread as the rest of it looks like people piping up for no apparent reason, all in agreement with each other and apropos of nowt.

For whatever my opinion is worth, I thought that the previous way of moderating this site was the model for all sites to follow.

I like having the truly hateful graffiti removed rather than just notes saying "ignore the graffiti"
