I recently played Bruges and would like to add it to my collection but it is currently out of print and very pricey. Is there anything anyone can suggest that might be similar? I like how the cards do more than 1 thing and I like how the dice rolled can impact the board play.

Have you tried Macao?

It’s by the same designer and features a number of similar mechanisms, including dice rolling determining an important part of the game state. It’s a deeper game, in my opinion, and I definitely prefer to bruge. Look into it!

Imperial Settlers reminded me of Bruges a little bit. Especially the abilities of some of the cards.

I *think* it's going to get a new release, but I can't remember where I heard it

I've chased a couple of copies second hand, but they get snapped up pretty quickly

I disagree, La Granja is a far superior game so yeah, good suggestion.

PS: I'm not a huge fan of Bruges, it's ok but many of his other titles are far better (Macao, Amerigo, Trajan...). Isn't Macao easy to find second hand?

PS2: Going from Bruges to Brass is a big leap, strange suggestion in my opinion.

Feld's La Isla has a similar card mechanic. You're dealt three cards every round and you have to determine which card will give you a new bonus, which one will give you a new cube, and which one will score. It feels like the character, house, canal decisions in Bruges, but on a little lighter scale.

The request was for games where cards can be used in multiple ways.

in Brass you can spend a card to do many things.
Build an industry tile
Build a rail or canal
Develop an industry
Sell cotton
Take a loan

(they just are not necessarily all printed on the card)
