First, this is such a great game. The production levels are off the chart, especially the double-layered player board and UV highlighting throughout.

That said, I find the screen-printed wood bits much nicer than the 'deluxified' plastic minis. When I showed my group, there was unanimous agreement and the plastic stayed in the box. Anyone else find this to be the case?

We feel the exact opposite. YMMV.

I think I'd like the wood...if it was that chunkier, heavy euro wood. I just like the feel of that wood a lot more than the stuff TMG uses. Since the wood loses that 'feel' appeal, I slightly prefer the plastic in Crusaders.

I prefer wood as well, so I decided not to back and wait for the retail release. I hope this hits shelves in Europe soon. Haven't seen it in the wild yet.

I also prefer the wooden tokens over the plastic ones.

I probably should have put this in the original post, but I think this says more about the excellent wood components and the feel of the game than the plastic mini quality. The minis are actually very nice, high quality, highly detailed, and work great. I think it's more that I don't like to mix wood and plastic components and the wood matches the iconography much better.

I like both, but I love the fine detail they managed to get into the plastic minis, and I think I’ll probably default to them as a rule unless the other players felt strongly about the chunky little wooden versions.

I also like the colors and color combinations better in the plastic. They punch at the same intensity as the colors on the tiles & chits.

The wood is more ergonomic. Especially when it comes to the knights. The plastic knights fall over at least a few times per game in my experience.

My game group does not like the plastic pieces but I'm more torn, I like both.

Just opened my copy for Christmas and my initial thought too was that I prefer the wood components. However, I give them a try to see if I change my mind. I think the quality and detail of the plastic minis are fantastic though.
