I almost won tonight! I think!

I got an opportunity to buy horses, and I bought like 5 of them, figuring I could use them later (even though I was by myself, I figured I could tie them together and lead them as a team or something), which later came very handy when I met two seperate groups of amazons and hired them, 4 total.

Before this I tried going to a temple but found that it costs money, and I didn't have any (a problem I run into often in this game), and had two separate towns turn me away because I didn't have a monk or priest with me.

I did gain audience with a lord of a castle, and got 400gp that way, and later while traveling south ran across a merchant, who told me the secret of Baron Huldra!

This then turned into a rescue mission, and my party rode into the hills to try to rescue the true lorde of the castle - to face 14 bad guys at once ???

Anyway, as you can probably guess, me and my 4 amazons got slaughtered.

Beating this group was only step one of a two-step process in winning, and I would have had to have the luck of the gods to beat it (there is an alternative way to beat the first step, but you have to have a magician, preist, or wizard in your party, as well as have a magic sword, a shield of light, a charisma talisman, or a gas bomb).

OK, so if I had rolled low (you roll 3D6 to see how many bad guys there are) I might have had a chance, but otherwise it was nearly impossible.

I'm also not sure I got some of the encounter rules right (for example, if you're on a road, do you roll for *just* encounters on the road, or for *both* the road, and the type of terrain the road is on?) but I'll ask that separately. :/

Re:Session Report
Shadoglare (#37277),

No no. You need either the wizard, priest or magician to cast the spell, or one of the magic items mentioned to beat the hill tribe.
