I once read about an rpg where the character creation was like it's own board game.

I can't find it on google, and was wondering if someone around here knows what it is.

I think it's Swedish or German, and I have an idea that the box was redish.

I hope someone knows what it is, and will post it pretty fast

Cheers.

Traveller (Classic)

Traveller was like that

Your character could die or get maimed during creation..

I wouldn't call Traveller character creation a board game. It's considered a LifePath character creation system:

https://rpggeek.com/rpgmechanic/2124/lifepath-character-gene...

You create the background and history of the character as you generate.

I've written apps for this. See my OverText

Depends on the tablet and the browser. iOS for sure implements it so any hover effects show up when you tap on the thing in question.

I used to LOVE tricking out my character and their weapons in Shadow Run 20yrs ago (whatever ed that was)!

That was on par as much fun for me as the game itself

Yeah Shadowrun was the first thing that came to mind. Character generation was definitely an activity all it's own that should be savored and not rushed through. More of a solitaire puzzle though.

It might be Operation: Fallen reich. I havent played it myself, but iirc it had a separate career board of some sort.
