Hi all,

Got a plane trip coming with a 3 hour daytime trip with my 13 yo daughter

Any suitable gaming suggestions to free us from looking at clouds?

Possible options:
+ Fluxx Pirate
+ Ace of Aces

Fairly sure Ttr or M44 not viable options...

Thanks in advance

A couple 2p games I enjoy with my kids, and that have an airplane-tray footprint:

Star Realms
The Fox in the Forest

I have played a lot of Jump Drive on airplane tray tables. Everything but the rules (you can download a PDF to your phone/tablet) fits in a plastic Dragon Shield deck box. Even though the VP chips fit in the box, I don't use them for scoring. I just use a calculator app on my phone.

I have also played Star Realms or Hero Realms while traveling. Again use an app instead if the cards for health tracking.

My copy is in the mail but, Soccer 17 looks like it would fit nicely on a tray table.

There are a couple you can play with just pen and paper:

* Blokus
* What's My Word?
* Hey That's My Fish!

Qwixx
Martian Dice

Just be sure to bring a little box or dice tray to roll the dice in.

Gunfighter is currently only available in print & play (via sign-up), but it has lots of replayability and doesn't really use much tray table space at all.

I would think strongly about some Roll-and-write games. Railroad Ink: Deep Blue Edition (or the Red edition) seems popular right now, although there are a bunch of others that might catch your interest.

I'm also a big fan of The Little Prince: Make Me a Planet, which would probably fit nicely on a plane tray. You could leave the box home if you have a way to carry the tiles separately.

Whatever you choose, you might also want to bring some travel wipes or hand sanitizer to use on those filthy airline tray tables.

I highly recommend getting (many) mobile apps that has pass & play capabilities and can be played in airplane mode. That way you can play anything, and there's no setup/clean up time involved. And no worry about turbulence knocking components around.

+1 to What's My Word?

I would be very cautious about table talk and this game on a plane.

Some really great pass and play apps include:
The Battle of Polytopia (free) - this is my son's favourite. It is a civilisation building game. Also can include bot players.

Hey that's my fish

Onitama (free)

Apps obviously work well, but I have also played Hive Pocket and by leaving the board behind and with a little compressing of the card stacks, Lost Cities.

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. The only slight issue would be handling the map but that shouldn't be too challenging

If you do go for a roll & write, do everyone else on the plane a favor and line the box lid with a piece of cloth, felt, or foam, just enough to deaden the noise, and roll in the box. (Just taking scissors to a cheap mouse pad to get a piece the right size ought to be enough.)

If you go with Ticket to Ride: New York I would say it could be an option!

Fairy Tile
7 Wonders Duel
Jaipur
Star Realms
Moorea
Virus
Sushi Go!
For Sale
Kingdomino
Reef
Unstable Unicorns
Fleet
Battle Sheep
Animals on Board

All of them are boardgames with small boxes, so they are all easy to fit in a hand bag.

Roll and writes have worked the best for us. Qwinto, Qwixx, Criss Cross, Castles of Burgundy the dice game, etc. I bought a leather valet tray that snaps at the corners for an easily packable dice tray that fits on the airplane tray. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/YAPISHI-Leather-Catchall-Jewelry-Beds...

We use it at home too as a dice tray.

Have fun!
