Hi all,

Having finished my storage solution, I wanted to share it with the Descent community.
My design goals were:
- find a solution protecting all my miniatures for when they'll all be painted. (When will that actually be is another story )
- be able to store everything (base game, all extensions, all the Lieutenant packs, all the Hero and Monster packs , all Co-op adventures, the new campaign book, an additional dice pack, the RAOV & RAMV printed cards (being French: RAOV Fr & RAMV Fr), a printed version of the CRRG ...)
- being able to setup a game as quickly as possible
- being able to carry the game if I want to play elsewhere than just home.

Images speaking louder than words, here is how I tried to meet those goals :

First, everything packed :

Let's now have a look at the base game box, containing all the cards and tokens.
The following images showing the box being opened, one layer after another :

To those wondering what that laminated page is on the top, I'll come to that in a minute whistle.

Individual pictures of all the trays inside the box (I tried to organize them so that when I setup a game, I just have to take the 5 smaller one and just put them on the table) :

Note in the last picture that I created Dividers for everything (Classes, Monsters, Lieutenants, Overlord, Variants ...).
All cards are sleeved (even the heroes sheet !).
A more detailed view of the dividers :

It does help a lot in speeding up the setup.
To those wondering what the homemade NPCs cards are, here is a link where I sharing them (images and PSD files for those wanting to edit them).

In order to store the tiles, I used 2 binders :

I then used the method described in this thread to have all the tiles having their own space where they fit perfectly :

Considering the number of tiles, I also added some tabs to ease the search :

If you want to have a detailed view of how all the pages are organized (note that all sleeves format is A4) :

Now comes the tricky part : storing all the minis and being able to find them as fast as possible !
That's where the laminated page that I keep in the Core box comes into play. If you look back at the first picture, you'll notice that I added a tag (printed, laminated and attached with a small chain) to each case and each one of them having a different color.
Here is how they look like :

Then, the laminated page will list exactly where each and every minature is. For example, it will tell me that the Bandits are in the blue case, right side, middle tray.

Knowing that, I open my blue case :

As you can see, there's another laminated page in the case itself, showing me exactly where the miniature is.
(Note that already knowing from the first page which side and which tray the mini I'm looking for is in, it may not be super usefull during the setup. However, for puting everything back in the case when the game is finished it's really usefull in speeding up the process !)

Hereafter are the photos of all these pages (it will actually also show exactly how the minis are stored in the cases :

To finish, I stored all the rule books (base game, extensions, Hero and Monster pages stored in a small document binder (with no ring)), the new campaign book, Printed CRRG, Printed rules for variants (RAMV & RAOV) ...
All that also being listed on the laminated page stored in the Core Box.

And that is basically all !

If anyone of you is interested in doing the same, I copied all my files on this share.
You would find there :
- the details of the cases configuration (I mean the IDs of all the foam trays)
- PDF files for the Storage summary (the page in the Core box), the 4 pages in the cases, the Labels to attach to the cases, the Foamcore plans for the Core box, all the Dividers and the tabs for the tiles binders.
- Because all of this is in French, I also copied all my "working" files (Excel and Gimp files) so that if anyone wants to translate everything, it should be pretty easy. I also added the sketchup files for the plans in that same folder, just in case.

Cheers everyone !
ilu

This is pretty excellent. I on the other hand threw everything in a small box.
Yeah, it's a pain but I have space issues. However, when I get serious more thank likely I'll borrow some of your ideas.

I assume you play this regularly?

You, sir, are a pro!

Looks good! What is the bottom layer of cards? I have it all and I do not think I have that many cards.

Great Solution!

I will use this as inspiration. The Foam Core looks great, bute not sure if I will do it the same way. At the moment I use a different Box for heroes and the Overlord, that helps a lot with setup.

Bute the trays for the minis are very interesting. I am using the big paper box from Feldherr at the moment, while figuring out what foam to buy to fit everything. will use your idee for inspiration

Outstanding job!thumbsup

Only point I don't get is why you decided to put the connection tiles into the minis box instead of the main box. Any reason for such decision?

This is somewhat satisfying to look at, must be even more satisfying how easily this must handle.

Very nice, I just built my first foamcore-insert ever - just for the base game - I'm pretty satisfied with it.
But this....this is a completly different level world.

Looks awesome, great work
I especially like that tile storage solution - thanks for linking to the original thread about that, I hadn't seen it before. One question though - do all of the tiles fit in A4 binder sheets? Some of the big LotW and MoB tiles seem (from memory) like they would be too wide?

To be honest, unfortunately, not as much as I'd like . However, the good thing now if that my son getting old enough, I'm more and more playing with him, allowing me to spend time with my child while enjoying my hobby at the same time cool.

I'm adding the following picture to the initial post, hoping that it will describe a little bit better how cards are organized in the box.

Don't hesitate to ask if this does not clearly answers your question .

Actually, I'm also having connection tiles in the binders. Those are the ones I'm using. The ones in the mini box are just there because I had too many of them and just needed a place to store them laugh.

Everything fits. If you have specific tiles you're wondering about, feel free to give me the numbers and I will post a picture of how I did.

Cheers,

Hi Alessandro,
I'm not sure that you read the last lines of my post laugh

- for the tiles, I provided the link to the original thread I followed myself.

Hoping that this will help you !

Dood, that's awesome. I was already thrilled when I saw the 4 suitcases.
Now I just can't get the picture out of my head of some guy at the railway station moving around all of his Descent equipment, instead of traveling with useless stuff like toothbrush and cloth .

Nice tile storage solution. I've been always struggling with tile chaos so far, so that was very enlightening.
Thanks a lot for your post!

Hi again, actually, to make things clearer I just updated the initial post to include pictures of how all the sheets were organized in the binder.
Hoping this may give you a better view.

Cheers,

Each one of those cases is roughly 100 CAD. That's 400 CAD for the foam trays and cases.

That is insane. Yeah it looks cool and well organized, but i'm not paying as much for the storage as for the game and it's expansions. That's madness.

Instead of those cases you could use the paper ones from feldherr. Those are cheaper because of the material.

But the foam will cot the same of course.

As far as I recall, for me, it was 42€ the small case and 58€ for the big one. So in total, 200€ (so, ~300CAD). I totally agree that it was not cheap, but I considered that the rest of the solution was cheap and that, compared to the price I paid for the game + all expansions + all lieutenant figures + all Heroes and Monsters packs + sleeves + paint (not considering time, effort and passion there as well, explaining why I want to protect them) + PODs ... it was way not as much for the storage as for the game and it's expansions laugh (I just did the math based on current retail price in France and we're talking about more than 1000€ ...).

Anyway, I totally agree that this is not the cheapest solution, it's nonetheless the one that fits my goals .

Cheers,
ilu
