Do I have to play the expansions separately or could I mix them together to make more creature variety??

I found the lack of different types of creature models a bit boring in the core box, but I do like the game. I want to mix it up a bit. Can I?

There's a spot in the core rules which tells you how to do this. You use the symbol in the corner of the enemy scroll cards to swap out enemies with a similar difficulty level.
Page 42, under "Enemy Scroll".

That said, unless you have the cards for incorporating the aliens from Galaxy Defenders into Sword&Sorcery you won't find any suitable replacements with the expansion IIRC. If there are any, then its 1 or 2 at max.
