Did anyone catch acting AG Whitaker's expression? It never changed. He looks like a condemned man, dead inside.

He's testifying this month, right?

If so, placing it in quotes with a misspelled word was grammatically correct.

I don’t want to give Trump credit for anything in that speech. It was stunningly well-crafted to deliver poisoned pill requests about the future budget. Requests which I believe some Dems were hearing for the first time and were not previously under discussion in the December package or within the current committees. I suspect there were enough “asks” to add several billion in appropriations beyond the additional money for the steel fencing.

Opinion piece about his SOTU, from FOX. It's amazing how different groups can take away different things from a speech.

Quote:
In a speech that was interrupted 102 times by applause, President Trump rocked the House, delivering remarks that were at times moving, funny, inspiring, feisty and visionary. He appealed to lawmakers in both parties to rise above partisan politics and define victory as “not winning for one party but winning for our country.”
So, when they don't rise above partisan politics, does he not bear some responsibility for this, as Negotiator in Chief?

Quote:
However, Trump broke through their grumpiness by celebrating the record number of women working in the U.S. today and the all-time high number of women in Congress. Even they couldn’t resist celebrating themselves, which they did with high fives and laughter.
Laughs, is she too stupid, to realize that they were celebrating that fact, DESPITE Trump? Laughs, they might not have even been there if not because they railed against his policies, during the election process.

Quote:
Other Democratic guests included some people in the country illegally who had at one time worked on a Trump property.
She glossed over this one pretty quickly!

Quote:
Trump warned that the only thing that could disrupt the steadily growing economy would be “ridiculous partisan investigations,” politics or endless wars. Needless to say, Democrats did not leap to their feet on that one.
This from a guy that does not want to negotiate regarding a wall, and who has not left the use of troops out, in both Venezuela, and Iraq (to watch Iran). Yet he's pulling out of Syria after being rebuked by his OWN colleagues in Congress. Talk about tone deaf, laughs.

Quote:
But for sure, the most contentious issue – and the one that continues to hang over the country – is immigration. Trump said no other issue better illustrates the divide between the working class and members of the wealthy political class, who hide behind walls while blue-collar workers suffer the lower wages, overburdened schools and depleted safety nets that illegal immigration causes.
I think Republicans are ignorant to polls, most if not all indicate that immigration is NOT the highest on the priority list for Americans (in fact, it's not even close). It's contentious, only because TRUMP has made it so. The last part of the statement is just outright wrong, as if illegal immigration somehow pushes wages down, and depletes safety nets (the old "They bleed the system mentality").

Quote:
He vowed, as he has before, to put America’s interests first and, notably, promised that America will never be a socialist country.
Trump GOOD, Socialism BAAAAAAD.

They couldn't even avoid mentioning AOC, on a day that really had nothing to do with AOC. Laughs, talk about obsession.

Because I'm not insane, I didn't watch his speech. But I was reading this morning that not only did Team D not jump all over that applause line, but Team R stayed mostly silent as well. Assuming that's true.... interesting.

Laughs, now you know his staff had to spell it out that way so he wouldn't mispronounce it. I could definitely picture Trump using the short 'e' on that one.

I saw a clip - to say it was a line that fell completely flat would be an understatement.
