Repainting the miniatures | Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition

My copy of Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition arrived today and it took me about five seconds to realize, that the miniatures are quite suboptimal.

Did anyone already do a repaint? There's an old thread about repainting the miniatures from Mage Knight Board Game, but I don't know, if the miniatures are the same.

They're the same. With, maybe, slightly different paint jobs.

Do you need more card ideas for the D&D Adventure System games?

There's no need to remove the old paint from the miniatures. I just painted over the parts I didn't like and hit them up with some spray lacquer (Citadel Purity seal) and it worked fine.
