If you skim the best from the top in the world of euro games, what would you get?

Preparing my birthday list and I'm in the mood for some sit-and-stare-in-awe-after-you've-played good euros! Any mechanisms, any themes, just give me the BEST!

Is Concordia worthy of consideration?

Thoughts?

I played Concordia a couple of times and enjoyed it, but not as much as my favorite euros below:

Agricola
The Castles of Burgundy
Teotihuacan: City of Gods
Trajan
The Voyages of Marco Polo

Concordia - still my #1 game. Deck building + colonization
Trajan - medium-heavy rondel mechanic.
Teotihuacan: City of Gods - the new hotness, action selection with good interaction.
La Granja - multi-purpose cards. One of my favorite mechanisms.
Grand Austria Hotel - dice drafting. Might be a bit long with more than 2 players.
Coimbra - new hotness. Dice drafting/engine builder. Nice to look at.
Calimala - pure area control with no bolted on rules. Bland looking. Plays quickly.

Based on your high ratings for Race and Roll for The Galaxy you might want to check out New Frontiers.

Instead of rattling of a list I'll just mention one: Carpe Diem. This is my favorite new euro. A super tight puzzle, easy to learn, tons of variability, and a huge hit with everyone I've played it with so far.

Concordia's ranking has only risen as time has passed. Absolutely worthy of consideration/acquiring/etc.

+1 Great Western Trail
GWT is known for being a kitchen sink of different mechanisms that somehow blend well together.

I fully realize I'm in the minority here, but I just don't see what the big deal is about Concordia. I own it, I enjoy it, but I have no clue how it ever made the top 100 and became such a cult classic. And that's coming from someone who is a sucker for anything Ancient Rome...

For me, Homesteaders is criminally underrated. Check it out if you haven't already.

YES to Concordia!

Also +1 to Keyflower, Calimala, Carpe Diem, AquaSphere, and Ra. (No links. Typing w/ one hand = hard)

You may also like Lorenzo il Magnifico, Explorers of the North Sea/Architects of the West Kingdom or Viticulture EE. (The latter is on my wishlist. Friends have the former game and series.)

If you can find 1906 San Francisco, get it!!!

Good gaming!!!

And happy birthday!!!

It depends on your tastes, but I would say if you love a good euro you can't go wrong with any of these:

- Terraforming Mars
- Gaia Project / Terra Mystica (the former is better, but if you really prefer a fantasy theme they are both great)
- Great Western Trail
- Lorenzo il Magnifico
- Feast for Odin
- Underwater Cities

I'm gonna be discordian ... 'cuz I think there are titles beyond Concordia/GWT/TMars/Trajan/Gallerist/Troyes. All excellent.

Consider from the past few years:
IKI
Yunnan

On the historical fringe:
Pax Renaissance -- Yes, I stare in awe at the tableaus of cards played.
