1. Yup.

2. Read the rules on the Kickstarter page. This is still in development so some things will change. Currently, the time Menhirs stay lit, requirements to activate Menhir, and scaling of combat and diplomacy depends on character count. Your character build focus may also change if you play a single character. For instance, you may want to diversify (attributes and skills) more so with a single character than if you play multiple characters.

3. Check out the rules. Whether it's interesting or not depends on your tastes.

Also, check out the following threads (there's not a lot of information available other than first impressions since the game isn't out yet):
Can you play true solo with a diplomacy focus?
The game says 1-4 players, but...
Best at ... number of players?

I should add that Rolling Solo has a playthrough of the first few Chapters where he plays with a single character. Looks like it works well. Check that out as it addresses all your questions.

Edit: Typos and added more details.

Re: solo with a single character?
Good summary DoctaWho!

I'll just add the section from their FAQ on the KS page:

Quote:
Is solo mode a full experience? What are the differences between solo and coop? How does the game scale?

Yes, a 1-player game is perfectly viable and allows you to experience everything the game has to offer. The core rules are the same for the Solo and the Coop mode, and the most important gameplay differences between them are:
- Solo players receive a more lenient “You are dying!” card, giving them a better chance of self-recovery.
- The Events decks for each Chapter come together differently, depending on the number of players.
- As you add players, Guardian Menhirs start to go dark faster – and their activation costs scale higher.
- As you add players, tougher Encounters cards enter Encounter Decks faster.
- As you add players, static rewards from the Exploration Journal become less impactful – the players need to have a more organized resource-gathering effort.
- In future, for larger groups of players, some Events might spawn Guardian creatures directly on the map.
Also some excerpts from the final 24 hr Q&A:

Quote:
Q: Are Guardians also used in solo? In the prototype they aren’t.

Yes, there will be Guardians in solo mode, but they will arrive in later Chapters and there will be less of them due to balancing reasons.

Q: When playing solo with one Character, do you have to develop both sides (Combat & Diplomacy) equally?
Having some competence in both Combat and Diplomacy makes the game more enjoyable if you have only one character. But if you want to, you may stick to your guns and go all-in on Combat or Diplomacy – some parts of the game will be very challenging, but we’ll make sure everything is doable.

Both? It's a big (think 30 - 40 hours per Campaign- there are 3 Campaigns: Fall of Avalon, Last Knight, Age of Legends) adventure game but is divided into Chapters (think of this as a play session which runs 2-3 hours each). You can save whenever you want (not much is known about the save system) but saving between Chapters seems natural. Each Chapter, you'll have different objectives/missions to pursue, some will be connected to the over-arching campaign while others will be side quests.

Edit: I should add that you'll be playing different characters during each of those 3 Campaigns, so you can consider them as self-contained experiences with some storyline connections and some of your previous decisions may impact what happens.

The Rolling Solo video that DoctaWho mentioned will give you a good idea of this.
