Has anyone seen one used or new, made from nicer materials than me cobbling together a homemade one?

There are some nice 13x13 wooden boards shown there, but it also says in red "Tillfälligt slut. Ny produktion på gång" which I suspect means they are out of stock.

Those are home made sets, not necessarily for sale.

If you wouldn't mind a rollup board, BUY YOUR HEX SET PIECEMEAL! Get a Megamat or Battlemat with 1" hexes from Chessex.

Their "factory second" mats are half price and the ones I got looked fine to me. You have to cut the grid into a diamond shape. You can get a 15x15 diamond out of a Battlemat. See the images for Hex to see some examples. You can hand stitch some white and black yarn around the edges to indicate the border rows. I hope you will use the same positioning of black versus white as in the Hex images, not the mirror image. For storage, use a plastic tube, or two taped together. Grocery stores are full of these. roll the board up face out for better longevity and to make it lie flat more easily for playing.

The 1" hexes (interior dimension) work well with standard Go stones.

I actually went and visited Mattesmedjan for my vacation. It's only 2-3 hours drive away, and I could hitch a lift with a friend who commutes. Bought a 13x13 board and it is very nice.

They showed me some 19x19 boards, and one 26x26 board, that they had custom-made for a US customer who had previously bought a set. Unfortunately, when they shipped it to him, he had moved, and didn't reply to mail. US post office couldn't find him either.

Anyway, they now have several 19x19 boards and one 26x26 board in two parts, to be put up for sale soon. I tried to upload images, but you know how the modding is.
