First line: "Today Gale Force Nine revealed a sneak peek of their upcoming reprint of the board game classic Dune."

Powers:Coleridge:Milton: Faith...must be, if anything, a clear-eyed recognition of the patterns and tendencies, to be found in every piece of the world's fabric, which are the lineaments of God.

Clickbait? There's very little correspondence between your title and the linked article. Specifically, there's nothing there that claims (in any way) that the Eon Dune will be reprinted.

Original left for the historic record; but the original post has been edited and now (also!) points to an announcement of the reprint.

Even better (from my vantage point, at least) if one continues reading you'll see a reference to Peter Olotka's twitter stream where he confirms the reprint. I'm a huge fan of the original game, so I'm optimistic that the reprint will be lovely.

This is the press release from August 2018, which does not in any way say that the Avalon Hill DUNE will be reprinted. It does not say that it won't be reprinted, either.

It's like you just posted the Trip To Gamont card to the forum.

I know that Peter Olotka & Bill Eberle wanted to bring the actual DUNE back.

I know that FFG really wanted to as well, years ago.

I know that FFG was still interested in doing it last year when the news hit.

I know that Gale Force Nine was interested in doing cross-licensing deals with other publishers.

All this makes me think that a reprint is going to happen, but I would still like to see an official announcement directly from either Gale Force Nine or FFG....

I really hope they do a Dune: Catan with a Shai Hulud as the robber.

See the corrected link above--it's explicitly a reprint of the old game.

Sounds like I need to dust off my Settlers of Arrakis variant (the Storm equates to the Robber, Sandworms are a commodity used to establish routes between Sietches, etc.).

That's not an announcement directly from the publisher, though, and I can find no other sources for this announcement aside from that article. Does anyone else have any other sources or support for this article?

FWIW, take this as you will, but this is what my FLGS (from the trade show) posted:

Facebook seemed to be having a major malfunction today, so now you get the whole day's pics all at once, starting with Gale Force 9, who will be reprinting the classic Dune (with updated art) amongst other things!

I posted this in another thread, but most likely because it's a trade show, they are just giving "insiders" in the biz a heads up of what's coming (which in this instance is reported to be a new edition of AH Dune), but clearly using "stock" images to convey this point (as they likely have not contracted a designer for artwork yet at this stage).

This is great news!

Since at least some of the original designers seem to be involved, I hope we get official clarification on the spice bribery situation, and testing/tuning of optional and advanced rules - there are a number of balance issues that should be evaluated for any new edition.

Awesome. My apologies for the initial quibble (will happily delete, if you'd prefer.) I find Olotka's twitter post sufficient evidence, too!

As much as I love the Ilya artwork and now that my initial excitement has calmed down, I’m in agreement. This is most likely a “here’s how popular Dune still is, fans make their own elaborate versions.”

It would really be nice to know what they said when presenting this slide.

Just please god emperor, no movie stills.

In the discussion under the news people pointed out that Ilya files seem to be vanishing, and took it as a hint that GF9 indeed uses this art. That would be an awesome message if true, I'm a fan of this particular version.

Oh, and the the game FINALLY getting a reprint too, I guess...
