for creating the badge!

For ... reasons ... mentioned elsewhere in the 'Geek ...

this month's requirement is going to be

Electronics

Remember: The requirement is just a requirement - not necessarily a theme! It's up to you, how you involve it in your game!
(Bonus points for totally not including Han in your game ...)

Happy designing and kind regards,
Kai

p.s.:

In the behaviour rules (see link to basic rules thread above) I've written:
Quote:
Please create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.
Please do present your game along with a short description in a posting. The reason I ask you to do this is simple: Creating geeklist entries becomes easier for me because from time to time copy-n-pasting from PDFs produces unexpected results (such as copying only odd symbols into the clipboard ..)
Thanks a lot

And if you'd like to spread the word of this contest, feel free to tweet about it:

I was thinking that myself, although the game need not be electronic. It could be about electronics in some other way.

I am going to be making a game about electronics that will be completely board game and paper, plastic, and cardboard. though I am not starting my clock yet.

Edit: I will be starting the clock tomorrow after I wake up and complete my chores and then work hard, as it might be me biting off more then I can chew, so it time for me to go to bed.

This will be my first design contest after just learning about this last month and I'm liking the theme. The first thing that came to mind is Friedemann Friese so I may look at some of his games for inspiration.

Looking forward to my first 24-hour crunch!

This has probably been discussed before, but I didn't find it in the rules/discussion thread: can I submit more than one game for a single month? For this month in particular I'd love to make an Electronic PnP game that uses Arduino, but I also have a regular board game idea.

And the clock is started on the first Second (my bad) entry of the month.

x86

"A economic game of the processor wars for the IBM clone market, players are investors of Intel, AMD, Cyrix, and other companies rushing the design of "x86" processors (286, 386, 486, and then trademarked named processors). It uses 18xx style play of stock and operational rounds."

Wish me luck as this will be a big game to make in 24 hours. Not graphically heavy, but will be rules heavy.

Clock starts at 9:45 AM EST

How does one respond to such a comment? Of course, it's entirely possible my designs don't actually count as entries. Carry on.

Normally someone notes when they start on the project here, and then when it is finished, as to show that it was within 24 hours.

If you did a entry that I missed, I am sorry, just that it wasnt totally clear with me that your post was a entry.

I updated my post to show that I am the 2nd entry.

As a note, my project is finished*

*I may update my rules later tonight, but everything is there in the two PDFs and I am calling it done for a 24 hour contest.

A fully working 18xx (stock game at least) with chip makers.

I think I see a typo, unless you meant to type 'Microelectornic'. It has a certain ring to it, but I'm guessing you meant 'Microelectronic' as the company name.

At this point the typo has become a intentional mistake laugh

Also I will go on the record I hope I lose to someone who makes in 24 hours a free version of the "Dark Tower" boardgame for everyone to play.

Good luck to all those who enter into this contest.

Shhhhh! Lol, you've read my mind. I've been reading up a lot on that very game today.

There is a good iOS app that's free too. It plays very well.

I will give this a try, clock starting at 1:12 AM on Friday, Apr 5, 2019 (time in Toronto, Canada area).

The tentative name for the game will be SQUIDs, a game for 1 to 4 players

It will tinker with ideas based (very tangentially / loosely) on quantum electronics concepts like Tunnel Junctions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnel_junction) and SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQUID).

More details can be found here as development progresses: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2180333/wip-squids-24-hour-...

Finished! (uploaded files at 12:44 AM on Saturday, Apr 6, 2019, Toronto time)

It's now 06:31 Central Africa Time so I've 8 hours remaining but I've stayed up all night before a day of work (!) and I'm blearily content with where the process has led me so I'll consider this entry complete!

Scrapyard Scramble is a set collection game in which 2 players search, snaffle, salvage, and scrap to build their supermachines – the best shot at a ticket outta here before the apocalypse.

Gather component groups for your supermachine, or use the parts now to trigger effects and get ahead of your rival.

Whoever unlocks the greatest synergy of electronics offers humanity its greatest hope of survival. This is no time for cooperation. Only one will be remembered.

Rules + 54 print-and-play cards here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ijg90ion1gfdao9

Any feedback or advice would be most welcome. I'm looking forward to trying out the other entries.

I totally did not find inspiration this month. I had a strong idea for doing something with the Dark Tower game, basically reversing it and showing it from the inside of the Dark Tower, from the perspective of the electronics. Kind of Dark-Tower-meets-Tron. But I just could't settle on a game idea to go with that theme.

I thought about lots of options. Just none of them got me excited. Nothing percolated.

And so I'll have to skip this month and wait to see what next month's keyword is.

Feels like a lost opportunity, and I probably should have just pushed though and done something. I just didn't have it in my head. Do you guys generally have the concept locked in your head before you start your 24 hours, or do you just start 'fiddling' when the 24 hours start?

Same for me. I couldn't get any idea to stick.

I definitely would like to have an idea I'd like to explore before starting the 24 hours. If I can't get any very basic concept or idea in my head that I feel might lead to something interesting, I won't start the 24 hours. Most of the time, it's only a very basic idea, so there's still plenty of fiddling to do.
