Hi,

I was looking through the website's Party Games recommendations and found 3 charts:

https://boardgamegeek.com/partygames/browse/boardgame
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamecategory/1030/party-game
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamesubdomain/5498/party-game...

So which one is official?

Thanks!

Hi,

The first link is to the ranking chart on bgg

The other 2 are just alphabetical lists as far as I can tell.

None of these are official per se, but the bgg ranking is based on input from the site users so gives some indication of popularity

The other 2 can be sorted out by rank (and others) but it gives you a different result compared to the others.

Ok, yes I can see why there are differences - it depends where the party game classification is given within bgg. Sometimes games are defined as 'type' = party, sometimes they are defined as 'category' = party. These designations are sometimes missing and are largely corrected on an ad hoc basis by people on the site.

As I said before, there is no official ranking and these definitions are all community based and a little inconsistent.

The comparative positions based on bgg rank should be the same, it is just a difference as to which games are included as 'party games'
