Anyone else want to let the older villains use the new Spell decks from ToA and DotMM?

Klak, Kobold Sorcerer, from Castle Ravenloft
Klak's tactics are already very unique, but you could probably replace his second tactic with cast Fireball, Delayed Blast Fireball, Meteor Swarm, or Bestow Curse (maybe).

Werewolf, CR
Maybe add a tactic between the first and second: If the Werewolf is within 1 tile of a Hero, it moves adjacent to the closest Hero and casts Inflict Wounds, Vampiric Touch (maybe), Fear, or Slow.

Young Vampire, CR
Maybe replace the Young Vampire's first tactic with casting Vampiric Touch or Finger of Death, but keep the part about moving 1 tile in the direction of the tile's triangle. Maybe replace the Young Vampire's second tactic with Charm Monster, Bestow Curse, or Slow (maybe).

Flesh Golem, CR
Not sure if it should be able to casts spells... If any, I'd say maybe Stoneskin or Fear.

Howling Hag, CR
You could replace the hag's first tactic with casting Fear or Lightning Bolt (maybe), and replace her second tactic with casting Telekinesis or Magic Missile (maybe).

Zombie Dragon, CR
Maybe add a tactic before the last one, if the Zombie Dragon is within 2 tiles of a Hero it casts Ray of Frost or Ice Storm.

Gravestorm and Strahd are so cool that I'm not gonna mess with their tactics.

Meerak, Kobold Dragonlord, Wrath of Ashardalon
He probably shouldn't be able to cast spells.

Kraash, Orc Storm Shaman, WoA
You could add a tactic before his first one that says, if Kraash is adjacent to a Hero, he casts Delayed Blast Fireball or Meteor Swarm. The old first tactic becomes the second and it's okay as is. The old second tactic becomes the third and you could replace it with casting Fireball or Lightning Bolt. Then finally is the "otherwise" tactic that you can leave as is.

Margrath, Duergar Captain, WoA
I wouldn't give him any spells... maybe Stoneskin or Slow.

Otyugh & Rage Drake & Enraged Rage Drake, WoA
No spells for any of them either.

The Gauth and Ashardalon are also very cool so I'm not gonna mess with their tactics.

Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle Baenre, The Legend of Drizzt
These guys probably don't need spells.

Methil El-Viddenvelp, Mind Flayer, LoD
Maybe replace his first tactic with casting Charm Monster, Finger of Death, Telekinesis, or Bestow Curse.

Shimmergloom, Shadow Dragon, LoD
You could maybe add a tactic before the last one saying, If Shimmergloom is within 2 tiles of a Hero, he moves 1 tile toward the closest Hero and casts Fear or Stoneskin.

Yochlol, Handmaiden of Lolth, LoD
Replace the last, "otherwise" tactic on the drow form (front) side with, Otherwise, the Yochlol moves 1 tile toward the closest Hero and casts Charm Monster, Disintegrate, Lightning Bolt, or Bestow Curse.
For the back side of this card, maybe replace the second tactic with casting Finger of Death, Inflict Wounds, Vampiric Touch, or Slow.

Yvonnel Baenre, Matron Mother, LoD
Maybe replace the first tactic with casting Finger of Death, Inflict Wounds, Vampiric Touch, or Slow. Maybe replace the second tactic with casting Fireball, Delayed Blast Fireball, or Meteor Swarm. Then maybe replace the last, "otherwise" tactic with, Otherwise, the Yochlol moves 1 tile toward the closest Hero and casts Charm Monster, Disintegrate, Lightning Bolt, or Bestow Curse.

Errtu, Balor, LoD
You could maybe add a tactic before the last one saying, If Errtu is within 2 tiles of a Hero, he moves 1 tile toward the closest Hero and casts Fear, Stoneskin, Fireball, or Lightning Bolt.

Air Elemental, Temple of Elemental Evil
With the spells available to us now, I don't think any really fit with the Air Elemental. Maybe Lightning Bolt or Magic Missile, but that's a stretch I guess.

Earth Elemental, ToEE
Stoneskin is a pretty obvious one. You could maybe add a tactic before the last one saying, If the Earth Elemental is within 2 tiles of a Hero, he moves 1 tile toward the closest Hero and casts Stoneskin, Slow, or Disintegrate.

Fire Elemental, ToEE
Maybe replace the first tactic with casting Meteor Swarm. Maybe change the range for the second tactic to "within 1 tile of a Hero" and then have it cast Fireball.

Water Elemental, ToEE
Maybe add a second tactic that says, If the Water Elemental is within 1 tile of a Hero it casts Ray of Frost or Ice Storm.

Swerglemergle, Ettin, ToEE
I don't think he (they?) cast spells.

Arkashic Thunn, Salamander, ToEE
Maybe replace the first tactic with casting Delayed Blast Fireball, Fireball, or Meteor Swarm.

Velathidros, Black Dragon, ToEE
Its Village tactics are okay, but I'd like it to cast Fear at some point. For his Dungeon tactics, you could change the "otherwise" tactic to say he casts a spell instead of forcing the active Hero to draw an Encounter card... maybe he casts Ice Storm, Charm Monster, Bestow Curse, Stoneskin, or Slow.

Fire Elemental, ToEE maybe Delayed Blast Fireball, Fireball?


Fwiw D&D RPG Black Dragon's breath attack is:

Acid Breath (Recharge 5-6): The dragon exhales acid in a 60-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 54 (12d8) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

So maybe Disintegrate +7 and 4 Dmg 2 Miss. Could be Finger of Death because of the attack numbers +11 and 5 Dmg but not the name. Fireball +7 3 Dmg Miss 1 would be classic dragon breath but not technically for a Black Dragon.


Frightful Presence: Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened for 1 minute.

Fear (move 2 tiles away form caster and gained Stunned) in addition to the ones you listed.

For the lich from the Dungeon Command series, I have used the following rules.

Lich Necromancer (4XP) Tactics:
-If the Lich Necromancer is the only Monster you control, place a new Monster on its tile.
-If Lich Necromancer is adjacent to a hero, cast Vampiric Touch/Bestow Curse/Ice Storm/Magic Missile
-If the Lich Necromancer is within 2 tiles of a Hero, it attacks the closest Hero with a ray of fire.
-Otherwise, pass this card to the player on your right

I have DC Curse of Undeath also. Thematically Vampiric Touch and Bestow Cruse make makes undead Lich sense. I'd go with Inflict Wounds. I would go with Lighting Bolt for ranged which seems more necrotic instead of Ice Storm which is life nature based. Fear instead of Magic Missile which is too Wizardly and too far. A Lich wants to focus on closer enemies especially if he's also focused on placing new monsters near him. Close up Fear, Death and Command/Control is what he wants.
