I played this a few years ago and started to look for a pre-owned copy. Just wondering if I should concentrate on the second edition? Do I understand "minis" (the railroad men) are only in the second edition? Thanks in advance for any help.

From what I remember the only differences are wooden pawns vs plastic pieces and the finish on the cards being different.

I agree, this sounds right.

I believe the second edition also came with a larger draw bag for the resource/event cubes.

The first edition bag is a bit tight for larger hands!

Craig is right.
I have a first edition, and I got a second edition copy for a friend at a good price. I did a comparison during the component check and from what I remember:

* You have little figures in the 2nd Ed Vs wooden pawns in the first. Nice but not game changing

* The first player marker is smaller in the 2nd Ed than first. So I preferred the first

* Drawbag bigger in 2nd ed which definitely makes things a little easier

* resource cubes were a stronger colour in the 2nd Ed.

* Like the cubes, the cards were just slightly better in the second but the difference was marginal and you wouldnt care if you had only seen/felt the 1st ed.

So - for me, given the choice, I'd go for the 2nd Ed because of the bag size. The minis are nice, but that and the rest is no biggie.

Wow Bob, Thank you very much for your time. I think since this game will be hitting the table quite a bit, the second edition is the way to go. I appreciate it!
