I just received my box and wanted to paint all the minis before starting playing but I don't know what the skeletons with swords are.

Ghosts ? Undead ?

If any of you have the response it will help me paint them the right way. Can't find any visual representation of what they actually are anywhere on the web.

thanks !

They're wights, a more intelligent undead than skeletons/zombies.

I think the figures you are referring to are wights, a form of undead. They occur in the book Fellowship of the Ring as Barrow Wights encountered by Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin fairly early on in the book before they reach Rivendell, and they are rescued from one by Tom Bombadil. The encounter is not shown in the films, and they do not occur further in the books, so are possibly less well known than other supernatural creatures in LotR. I suspect (but don't know) that the game will use them as generic undead or supernatural creatures.
