Maybe it's to do with the shape of our table, but I had a hell of a time getting this set up -- even for two players -- with the board, cards, and player boards all positioned in a satisfactory and convenient manner.

One player is doomed to have to look at the iconography of the cards from far across the table, and having to place cards to all sides of your player board meant that space was really limited.

I can't even imagine a four-player setup.

It definitely does seem to be a table hog. The player board situation is probably the hardest to deal with. As you said you need room on 3 sides for card placement. The actual game board isn't as bad as you only need room for a 3x3 market to 1 side. Depending on the size of your table, it may limit your player count.

I agree that the game takes up quite a bit of table space. One tip: The cards in the hospital and the checkmark area will only add one row to each side of the player board as you can overlap the cards. You will only need to have visible the top part.
