Re: PBF #137 - The Hero We Need
Hm. So the idea being we 1) see if we can get him to take out any manifestations, but 2) just pound him down in the meantime until he flips.

One he flips, he starts hitting everything for 4 points every turn, unless we have one or 2 points of DR up, while eating manifestations. I don't think "destroy" has a "remove from game" meaning, so given the number of manifestations in Infinitor's deck, and the number that he's likely to play each turn, we'd have to expect that the flip-side Infinitor will be healing 8 or more HP each turn.

I'm wondering if instead we can keep him alive, while hitting the manifestations to the point where he can take them out. Both the Captain and the Adept are solid support characters who can provide extra protection, Skyscraper can do mass damage, and Chrono-ranger has lots of small hits that can set up potentially a bunch of enemies to be taken out. If we had some deck manipulation so we could get to Infinitor's one-shots that deal mass damage, we could potentially get a lot of dead manifestations.

Re: PBF #137 - The Hero We Need
Except this side of Infinitor has -1 to villain targets, so CR is going to be pretty handicapped.

And the problem with knocking the manifestations down is that Infinitor will likely take out only 1 a turn, but probably put at least that many into play (or more). I worry about a tableau of 5-6 0 HP manifestations continuing to pound on us until Infinitor finally flips. But since he currently has about as many HP as us, chances are all of us are going to be pretty close to 0 HP ourselves as the "hit highest HP" types are just going to hit all of us in turn. I think good guy or no, we have to hit Infinitor as hard as possible and get him to flip ASAP.

Ok, I can see it. Do we still want to avoid the swarms? They'll chain reaction when Infinitor goes down, but they'll chain reaction anyway.

Re: PBF #137 - The Hero We Need
I've been swamped under after an unexpectedly hellish last couple days, so I'm just barely now catching up. My off-hand recollection is that it's entirely possible to beat Heroic Infinitor without flipping him. I'm therefore not 100% sure we want to flip him ASAP.

My vote is for targeting the Reaper before the Swarms, because the Manifestations will be beating Infinitor up (he counts as a Hero target).

Oh, right, I didn’t see that - if there are no manifestations in play we win. We can’t destroy them, but when Infintor hits them he “absorbs” them. So we need to arrange for him to clear the board for us. Can AA block villain card plays? CR has his bounty that returns a target to its deck instead of destroying it. That’s good for one.

Re: PBF #137 - The Hero We Need
No, AA doesn't have any villain deck control. AA hands out card plays and powers to the other players, while providing light healing & either damage buffs or shields. He's also got good ongoing/environment destruction, but I don't know if that will matter with the Time Cataclysm, and Infinitor doesn't have any ongoinges.

I could potentially boost Infinitor's damage output, but that's almost as likely to hit us as hit the manifestations.

Sorry for my contribution to that. Did I mention what a hellishly craptastic week last week was?

In the meantime, we have two votes for the Reaper and none against. Shall we take that as consensus & start to move?

I don't know enough about Heroic Infinitor to vote either way so we've got 2 for, none against, and 1 abstention. I say proceed

Re: PBF #137 - The Hero We Need
Chrono-Ranger is going to be interesting in this set up. Infinitor's DR means CR's base power and all of his pings are going to be pretty useless. The fact that manifestations don't get destroyed but instead get stashed mean that any bounties I put on them will stay in play. I will probably try to get several bounties out as quickly as possible and then use the Masadah to make big attacks.

CR has one of his equipments that does irreducible damage, right?

Masadah does irreducible damage equal to the number of bounties in play. This might be pretty mighty in this game as it's more likely I'll be able to get 4-5 bounties out as they won't be coming back in much.

Does anyone have an awesome card play? Lacking other options, I would use this to play Vernal Sonata to get my Arcane Cadence back - that card lets AA get setup faster than anything else. I'd say it's the Best Card Ever, but that title has been taken. However, I know it doesn't use Vernal Sonata to the utmost.

CR can use it. I was just thinking which route I wanted to take on my turn. An extra card play would basically be "both."
