Da Vinci's Duel
Battle for the Mona Lisa

A 2-player set collection game featuring simultaneous action selection and secret unit deployment that plays in under 20 minutes. This game was designed for the 2019 Gioco Inedito contest.

Description: It's April 1519, and Leonardo da Vinci knows his days are numbered. He has many valuable possessions that must be accounted for, but perhaps none more so than the Mona Lisa. For a genius like da Vinci, there is only one solution: an academic hexathlon. Da Vinci chooses six of his favorite subjects---art, technology, architecture, science, music and literature---and his two best students are given a week to prepare for the big test, with the winner claiming the rights to the Mona Lisa.

In Da Vinci's Duel: Battle for the Mona Lisa, you are one of da Vinci's students vying for the most famous painting of all time. The game lasts five rounds, each round representing one day of the week. Each day, you will have 15 hours to study books, sketches, paintings and other things your teacher has amassed during his successful and varied career. You must secretly plan out your day, knowing that whoever studies each item the longest will get a leg up in the respective subjects come test time. Additionally, you can spend time with the master himself, gathering wisdom that may just put you over the top as you battle your colleague for fame and fortune. Finally, every student needs some rest! But will you sacrifice your precious study time for a long nap---thus unlocking some powerful special abilities---or use every waking hour to study? After some shorter quizzes on Tuesday and Thursday, the contest culminates with the final exam at the end of the day on Friday. Do you have what it takes to outwit your opponent and lay claim to the Mona Lisa?
