Playtesting a 2-6 player card game and wanted to share some of the pnp cards and the Art I would like for the play mats. Below is the rules so far followed by the photos and a link to a print and play file on one drive.
So far the 2-4 player count has been tested but right now would like to just share the idea. Thank you!

Ensnared
Hang around for about 15 minutes with 2-6 players who should be around 12 years old or so.
Object of the game
Players are dangling by their feet, (or torso) after being ensnared in the jungle. The goal is to have the least amount of blood rush to your head, so you are not one of those players who passes out. Players need to have more oxygen cards on their character than blood to their head. If there is a tie, players add the blood from their hand to their head, then you may feel faint. Be the first to break free, release the others, arise a legend!
Components
6 sets of character mat cards, (heads and “tails”)
2 card decks. 1 deck of 56 for 2-4 players, 1 expansion deck of 19 cards for 5 and 6 players.
The standard deck contains 24 red blood cards numbered 1-6, 24 blue oxygen cards numbered 1-6, 6 two-toned cards numbered 1-6, and 2 green wild cards. The expansion deck contains 8 blue oxygen cards numbered 7 and 8, 8 red blood cards numbered 7 and 8, 2 two-toned 7 and 8 cards, and 1 green wild card.
Set Up
Shuffle the ensnared “tails” of the Character mats face down. Deal 1 to each player, removing the remaining from the game. Players flip their mat face up and take their matching head mat card. The player with the least number of green leaves on their mat will be the start player. Play will continue to the right.
Now shuffle the deck(s) of cards and deal 6 to each player. Alternatively, with less players you may want to start with 8. With 5 or 6 players, add the “7 and 8” expansion. This may also be added to mix up the lower count game.
Game play
Step 1: (mandatory)
Draw the top card of the draw deck and add it to your hand of cards.
Step 2: (Optional)
Play sets. Sometimes you can’t or don’t want to in order to stay in the game. Sets always consist of 3 cards. They are also played in either blood red or blue oxygen sets. Red sets are always played on any opponents’ head card of their Character mat. Blue sets are always played on your Character mats “tail” card. A set consists of a sequence of three numbers in the same color or three of the same number and color. Two-toned cards are either blood or oxygen of that number while green wilds are any number of blood or oxygen.
Step 3: (Mandatory)
Pass 1 card from your hand to an opponent. That opponent leaves the card face down in front of themselves until their turn. Other players cannot pass the players a card that have one face down in front of them.
Game end
When a player is out of hand cards or the deck is empty, the game ends. Each player tallies their sets of blood and oxygen. If a player has more blood than oxygen, they lose. If there is a tie, players add blood from their hands to their tally. In other words, oxygen cards nullify the blood cards, so the player with the least amount of blood cards remaining is the winner. Victory may be shared, and some players may end up with negative blood points. Try keeping score for multiple games in a row.
Happy gaming and have fun hanging out with your fellow players, (pun intended).

Re: [WIP] Ensnared card game
Received some feedback from an 8th grade class who have been playing almost every day this week at different player counts. They said some of the games they play or have played at home with family include Uno, Go Fish, War, Phase 10, Slap Jack, Solitary, Dos, and memory. Here are some of their mentioned likes and dislikes:
Likes:
The animal theme, they pick one they liked.
The O2 an blood balancing of the cards
Interaction with others with red cards and passing cards
The illustrations
drawing before they go
competitive, strategic
multi-colored cards
original concept

Dislikes
Kind of dark theme as animals are caught and trying to get free
can be brutal to a player who is dominating but cant draw a blue
kids could be upset about favorite animal losing, should be 14+ age
deck runs out fast in 6 players

They felt more Characters would be good as well, I have added 3 to the original 6 they tested.

In a 6 player game the teacher said they had at least 8 turns each and were playing for about 30 minutes while conversing. Not sure how many move turns they wanted
I may change the story intro to be about the animals being trained by escape masters on how to escape snares so they are trying to finish first.
The teacher also pointed out that they asked to play some days on their free time when they would normally play on the computer. I guess that is a good sign that they liked it.
Next playtests will be with an older group. Also may do a few more mats for the game.

Re: [WIP] Ensnared card game
Just wanted to share a "Mentors Mat" I removed from the game. It added some special abilities players could purchase from the three masters of escape.
I like the characters though and could use them in the rule book or an expansion in the future I suppose.
