Only in an open set. In closed sets there are few ways to get lynched faster than saying "I'm a Miller".

Never argue with idiots; they'll drag you down to their level and then beat you on experience.

I don't think that's the case with this particular site's meta?

Have there been any closed set games here lately that have included a knowledgeable Tinker?

I'm not sure. I think maybe the Harry Potter game with Karkarov, but he didn't claim, or something?

Beren wanted to kill me.

We were trying to do a back and forth with me dying at 7, but it didn't work.

We were pretty much doomed.

Another crazy thought.

What if the Seer worked like the Priests do?

Seer looks at cards, not players - but only gets to look at *both* cards if the Apprentice is alive? Dead Apprentice, Seer only gets to look at one card instead of two. If Seer dies, Apprentice promotes - but gets the same one-card-only restriction?

Hits are sure things; clears, less so.

With no view on NK of seer, I'm for it.

This is a neat concept.

It introduces a lot of variance into the game, because viewing the wolf/villager and getting wolf card vs. getting villager is a potentially massive swing.

It also makes the game more puzzle-y, which is a plus from my POV.

I assume going with this mechanic means we're throwing the tinker out entirely? I don't see how that would sensibly work as a single card reveal. Unless it played as basically Wolf/Villager, and if it's paired with an evil card it returns Villager and paired with a good card returns Wolf?

Hm. Night order operation would matter here, I think.

Kill before view:
- Seer dies, Apprentice promotes and gets their view with one card.
- Apprentice dies, Seer downgrades that night and only gets one card instead of two.

View before Kill:
- Seer dies, view goes to the Seer, who's dead; Apprentice gets nothing that night.
- Apprentice dies, Seer still gets their full two-card view that night and downgrades to one-card view going forward.

Not sure which set would be better balanced.

At least thematically, I'd be inclined to say: the Tinker card views as a hit to all viewing roles regardless of what the holder's other card is. Sucks to be Tinker/Wolf in that case. Maybe make Tinker/Wolf knowledgeable; any non-Wolf ignorant?

Either that or leave Tinker out entirely. I'd be inclined to leave it out.

I'd ditch the tinker card at least during first runs. personally.

I don't mind immediate apprentice view with the view card mechanic AS LONG AS apprentice only ever gets a single card view. Never double.

With that idea, I'm fine with keeping the apprentice seer, making the set 10-5, including both a witch and a sorcerer.

Plus, there would be a fun dynamic of the auxes trying to get viewed without being lynched.

Thanks mods.

GG Good! Really good stuff.

I do agree with stone that had there been an hour long night, stone probably switches the N1 NK to ortho and it becomes a different game albeit still a game where good played fantastic.

under the apprentice mechanic that we are talking about - both cards with both alive, 1 card with one alive.
