Entries List

Contest Final

Robots of Eternity by Iffix Y. Santaph
# of Players: 1-7
Components: None needed
Overview: Robots, Time Rifts, Tools, and Ice Cream.

Champions of Curiosity by Peter Williams
# of Players: 2+
Components: 9 cubes/tokens per player and 1d6
Overview: In Champions Of Curiosity, each player takes on the role of a cat. They cannot resist their natural instincts and must investigate a series of boxes. But only some are safe while others are lethal. Luckily, you have 9 lives. Just try to be the last feline standing...

Masks of Chaos by Luke K
# of Players: 2-6
Components: 6 sets of 8 tokens in different colors. 2d6.
Overview: The mad prince is having a party, and you're invited! Of course there's a twist: he's very particular about where the masks are made and worn within the manor. Run about the rooms dropping, swapping, collecting, and matching colorful mask parts in order to fulfill the prince's requests.

Miseries of the Night by Jesse Hickle
# of Players: 1
Components: 4d6 (1 die different color), pencil with erase, 1 token
Overview: You are making your nightly sojourn around Dreamland when you notice that the place is crawling with Miseries. What's worse, it looks like they're about to invade the Waking World. Defeat as many as you can before you wake up and can't remember a thing about it.

Ornaments of the Dark by Acer Acerman
# of Players: 1
Components: 14d6, 12 meeples (6 green, 3 purple, 3 yellow), 3 black cubes, 10 cubes of various colors
Overview: Play through 3 Acts of the Investigation scenario, hunting for clues and relics, fighting cultists and monsters... Build your Investigator, then move to Innsmouth and interrogate witnesses, gathering enough evidence to solve the case before Doom envelops the world, pushing it into madness.

Vampires of Passion by Jørgen Brunborg-Næss
# of Players: 2-4
Components: 18 tokens & pawn per player (less with 3-4 players)
Overview: You are vampires yearning to awaken an ancient Master, a creature you both fear and love. But first you must unlock the crypt. Collect the blood crystals and position them on the right glyphs to open the gates. The one who collects all their Crystal's may awaken the Master, but can not be sure of being chosen.

Thunder Visitors by Pieter Falun
# of Players: 1-3
Components: 1d6 per player
Overview: Even though we don’t see them, four factions of thunder visitors fly through our atmosphere recording the thunders on our planet. In this game you’re one of them. Your job is to create thunder and then, most importantly, record that beautiful roaring sound of ephemeral energy flowing to planet earth. This game combines hand management, bidding, card placement, set collection and point to point movement.

Dryads vs Riches by Glenn Ford
# of Players: 1-6
Components: 8d6 & diff. color pen/pencil per player
Overview: A bank has foolishly opened up on the outskirts of the magic forest, and a group of Dryads have taken it upon themselves to save their sylvian friends from high interest loans and PPI by emptying its vaults. Dryads VS Riches is a shared board dice drafting roll and write game where players compete to place their roots most effectively to claim the greatest riches in the vault.

Evil Honor by Brigham Redd
# of Players: 2+
Components: None needed
Overview: Evil Honor is a Jousting game that can be played anytime, anywhere. Players compete in a battle of wits to outguess each other and score hits. The Knight whose aim is most true wins the day!

Goblins of Justice by Ethan Fisher
# of Players: 1-4
Components: 3 sets of tokens in diff. colors, pencil, 4 more tokens, 2d6 in diff. colors, coins/tokens, 1 more token
Overview: Justice... Just another lonely frontier town until it was over run by your goblin warband. You have made the previous sheriff's office your new home. With a blood soaked hat on your head and the rusty shiv of the law by your side, bring your crew into submission before they burn down a perfectly good town.

Outlandish Dragons by Yury Milovidov
# of Players: 2-4
Components: 1d6, standard 52 card deck, 20+ cubes/tokens
Overview: These dragons are utterly outlandish! Instead of relying on wings for flight they inflate their skin with bodily gases in order to float in the air very much like hot air balloons. They can steer with their fin-like limbs and even slowly slither in any direction. However, just like hot air balloons, the dragons are also very susceptible to wind, which is rarely absent in this game.

Brave Goblins by Ivan Espineda
# of Players: 2-4
Components: 2 to 4 d6 and 4 tokens of diff. colors
Overview: It is the coming-of-age ceremony! Be the best goblin among the others by being the first one to get the treasure and return home safely!

8 x 10.5 inches (203.2 x 266.7 mm) fits neatly onto Letter and A4 paper and is usually the size I target for PnP designs. (It has a 1/4 inch margin on all sides of a letter sheet.)

The margins are a bit thin on the A4 side (7mm width-wise) but that's usually good enough to be inside the printer margins of modern printers.

Hi John! Yes - it’s back with some twists and a shorter duration.

So 10 names will be provided to everyone who joins and creates a thread. As an example, if you joined and posted a new WIP thread, I’d respond to your post with the names - just for you. If you didn’t like any of those, I’d post another set for you.

These can be pretty silly but they looked more fun than the video/board game generators.

They do not. There is no page limit for the rules.

They do not. There is no page limit for the rules.

Can the rules include scenario setups, paragraphs, tables, ..., that is often included in rulebooks, or are there limits?

EDIT: I thought some more about this and I really hope there is no limit to what you put in the rulebook, as long as it does not have to be cut out to cheat the components limits. Many more possibilities if the rules can contain anything, and does not seem to go against the spirit of a one-page contest to me.

Excellent contest rules. Short and clear.

My only worry is that I have withdrawn from too many contests, so a few years ago I decided to not enter another without having a complete game before starting a wip thread. No more wip threads that die in idea phase. That will not work with this contest though. High risk of ending up with another abandoned project, but I might not be able to resist this challenge anyway.

EDIT: ... but what could go wrong? Fearless Cops - One Page PNP Contest (CANCELLED)

(Minor typo: "The contest organizer will than post a list of names" than -> then)

so would it be welcomed or seen as rude to brainstorm on other's list of names?

because I would have a blast but I can see someone reading it wrong and thinking its a comment more akin to "my better-than-your idea would be X, u should do that". Its really just me trying to see how much I can twist a title to end up with something unexpected and maybe stumbling onto a workable idea.

I'd be open for this, though your version would indelibly blow mine out of the water.
