My kids like this subject matter and play Warcraft III, Age of Mythology etc... Would Runebound be too tough for them?

Amitar (#40555),

I don't think so. I think the game is not too complex. Warcraft II and Age of Mythology are technically different genres than this though.

My son plays the above games and probably found Runebound to be easier.

Re:Runebound easy enough for an 9 year old.
My son is 7 and he was able to grasp most of the game without much trouble. The only part that really seemed to baffle him throughout the game was the phased combat range/melee/magic - it didn't really seem logical to him.

I also had to remind him of the uses of various "reward" cards that he was carrying around with him. So... with coaching, a 9 year old should have no trouble with this one.
