I am usually a fan of card sleeves. However, these cards are very sturdy with that nice grainy texture. So I ask, do these cards require protection, or do you think they will fare well in the nude?

Thanks!!

That is a tough call (I was thinking about the same issue recently). I use sleeves for my Mare Nostrum cards because they are so damn thin.

The 1960 cards seem very well made though. Hopefully Zev will make replacement decks available at some point.

Great question. If you or anyone else ends up using sleeves, let me know what kind worked for you.

so far, I feel like the cards will hold up without them. However, I am not sure about the edges.

During my first time playing I somehow got some water on the edge of two of my cards... they puffed up a little bit but otherwise look pretty solid.
