I bought a useful tool at my local hobby store for DIY projects:

It cuts perfect circles from 1.8cm up to 17cm. It doesn't use a needle to keep the center of the tool in place so it doesn't damage the medium you cut! It also comes with 6 replacement blades.

Thanks for sharing this. I've been wanting a tool like this to make circular cardboard counters but wasn't aware it existed. I'm off to my local hobby store. Thanks!

VERY nice. Sure beats the one that I picked up a few years ago to make paper models. How sturdy does this one feel?

Thanks,
Allan

It is sturdy and it is easy to use. You keep the button on the center pressed down and you rotate the base.

It can cut card stock but i haven't try with heavy cardboard. The instructions mention paper, film, leather and vinyl so i suspect that it may not be able to cut heavy cardboard.

If if cuts leather, I can't imagine cardboard would pose much of a problem.
