According to the English/Rio Grande Games rules, if there is more than one dog in the row, they chase each other instead of chasing cats away. No problem there. However,
Quote:
If a large dog chases a cat from the row and there are no positive cats in the row, he chases the lowest-valued negative cat from the row.

There's a similar rule for the small dog chasing the lowest positive cat instead.

Does this mean that dogs never chase the rabbits??

That is how I've interpreted the rule.

German rules (emphasis mine) wrote:
Wenn ein grosser Hund eine Katze aus der Auslage vertreibt und es gibt keine positiven Katzen, entfernt der Hund einen anwesenden Hasen (Wert 0) oder die niedrigste negative Katze.

So yes, dogs do chase rabbits.

Interesting.

I wonder if this was Jay's revision or an oversight?

FWIW: I was given an English version to edit and did not
remove any mention of rabbits. Not sure what happened.

The way it uses phrases like "highest negative value" is a little confusing because -1 is a "higher" value than -10, but I suspect they mean the lowest numbered cat (between -5 and -8, -8 would be chased away) is that correct?

There was just a story of a british lottery game where the higher your number, the more your prize, but thousands were confused that -80 is not higher than -20!

It seems like an extremely over-complicated wording in the rules. Shouldn't it just say that a Large Dog removes the best valued cat, and a Small Dog removes the worst valued cat?
