I was wondering is there a way to submit an avatar that won't be compressed.

Here I created an avatar in the 64x64 and far less than 100K compared to what it looks like when I submit it to the avatar:

As you can see the one one the right(my avatar) has jaggies and has been compressed.

Any way around this?

It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

It turns 3D if you look "through" it...

Try submitting the original as a gif or png. I've had similar problems in the past, and this seems to work fine for me.

I did both. The end result is the same.

I've been fighting the system as well, trying to get a decent looking badge image for BGG.con. I guess the system needs an update, or at minimum, a change in the level of jpg compression.

Looks like BGG converts all avatars to low-quality jpg. The "junk" around the ape is definitely jpg artifacts.

Does it also stretch out all avatars to the maximum 64x64 size? I thought I've seen ones that are smaller, but I didn't see any options to keep mine in its original size so it end up looking all pixelated. I'm not very graphics savvy so I decided to keep it as is, maybe I should just not keep an avatar instead of an ugly one blush

That's what it looks like. Funny though it doesn't change Animated avatars, but compresses single images.

I think if it were small enough it wouldn't have to compress them.

Turn you avatar into an animated gif with only 1 frame.

I didn't think that I set compression to low on purpose - I'll check the settings.

Update: The default quality value was set to 85. I changed it to 100.
