I own this game and have played online but what is the typical face-to-face playing time for this game?

Thanks in advance

mbooker (#44122),

Hmm... 3-6 hours? Six being an unusally long game with no autovictory. Three being a fairly quick autovictory.

Velusion (#44149),
Maybe I'm playing it wrong but games last 1-2 hours here.

An hour seems perdy darn short. Perhaps I just play slow though...

We probably take too many risks. My friend always seems to roll a 6 when he moves Hannibal via sea.

we need about 5 hours, but if we were more practical of the various cards maybe it would be a bit shorter.

Re:Real Playing Time

The games I've played seem to run around three hours. A bad attrition roll for Hannibal crossing the Alps can signifigantly reduce the playtime, however.

By the way, the 2nd edition rules remove the auto-victory for killing Hannibal.

And depending on the version of the Second Edition Rules you are using they reduce the Attrition for crossing any mountain or Alps pass and then make it Optional which DRM to use.

They're more . . . guidelines, you might say.

Re:Real Playing Time

I would say that the playing time is somewhere between 4-6 hours, I have played it for years with several people and below 4 hours usually, for us means someone is not concentrating,

It's a great game,

I've played 5 times, and the shortest game was about 90 minutes, with the longest clocking in around 3 hours... And the time really flew by, since there's a pretty significant sense of accomplishment with the flurry of action in the game.

1.5 to 2.5 hrs typically, 3.5 if it's a real nail biter, less if something horrible happens to one side repeatedly early on.
(And you never move Hannibal by sea with a risk of death, unless it is obvious you would lose otherwise, it's poker, not craps)

5~6 hours would describe our average game.
