For a more aggressive two player game, set up a 5x5 square in opposite corners and, with one color each, try to get one square your opponents "goal". It's a variant that a friend and I thought of after playing the two player version (two colors each) a bunch of times.

After playtesting the variant above, we've found that randomizing the order of the pieces played (prior to starting the game) makes it more interesting. If the pieces aren't randomized, player 1 wins, or player 2 defends and it becomes a stalemate. The easiest way to randomize pieces is to dump them out and start putting them in order from left to right, with the leading edge determining which piece goes first.
