as a nOOb to miniatures I have a few quick questions.

1) how would I go about adding weight to the bases?

2) what are some good ideas about painting bases for SHulk....flocking grass to base that is supposed to be inside a sHulk just doesnt seem right

thanks

Pennies work quite well on GW bases. Nickels are slightly more expensive, but heavier.

You can buy washers to use, but they cost more than just using coins.

Just glue 'em in the bottom. as long as they're less deep than the base, it should work just fine (as I recall, the Space Hulk bases don't have slots).

I recommend cyanoacrylate (Superglue) for all modelling needs, bascially, except plastic-to-plastic.

I'd try with putty under the base, it should work.

Ah. Whoops.

If you have a (power) saw, cutting nickels in half works fine. Else, as mentioned elsewhere, putty under the base is OK.

If you have the plastics (some editions were metal, others plastic), I wouldn't worry about it at all: even the metals are reasonably stable. I only rarely bother to weight miniatures: metal genestealers are one exception, as they're front-heavy.

I had a similar problem.

I solved it by going to the local hardware store and looking at various metal bits that could serve as weights. Eventually, I found little bags of dozens of very, very small nuts. As in "nuts" for bolts. They were thin enough to fit inside the base's recessed area and I was able to glue 4 or 5 to one side of the slot, and 2 or 3 to the smaller area on the other side of the slot.

Worked fairly well, though I wished I had a better glue than just superglue. One or two of the nuts eventually loosened and fell out.
