This game is an expansion to the classic Bohnanza game in which the players compete to reach the castle where the princess will marry the person who can reach her with the most money.

To set up this game you make all the normal preparations for Bohnanza and in addition each player takes a meeple in the color of their choise, the special Bohnröschen deck is shuffled and four cards are revealed. All the players place their meeples on the first card and it's time to start playing.

The cards in the Bohnröschen deck have a short text relating to the basic game of Bohnanza. Once a player fulfills the condition on the card (s)he may move his meeple to the next card. The text on the cards is quite varied and it's quite tricky to fulfill some of them sometimes. Luckily there is a second way of moving forward: Pay 1 bohntaler. This of course have the disadvantage that you're still trying to collect as much money as possible to impress the princess, but is sometimes the only way of moving forward. Anyway, after a while you have moved all the way to the castle. Can you just walk in there? No. You need at least 5 bohntaler in order to open the door, but once that has been done the regular game of Bohnanza stops, everybody harvests a last time and must now pay their way into the castle. (This may lead to some players having negative money if they are far from the castle and don't have very many bohntaler!) The person who now has the most money wins the game and may marry the princess.

This game is a quite nice addition to the Bohnanza family as it's not really changing the basic game very much but just adds a few elements to it. The theme is loosely based on the two classic fairy tales of Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk. It can also be played with Ladybohn: Manche mögen's heiss!.
