Hi all,

I had to move again and now I am looking (again) for a nice hobby game shop in my new surrounding. Having very good experiences with BGG advices at my last address, I would like to ask for your advice again.

I am looking for a FLGS which offers also wargames (GMT and the like, not tabletops like Warhammer etc.) and maybe some games of the Fantasy Fligh games kind.

I am living now ca. 40km east of Frankfurt in Gelnhausen (right in the Fulda gap, if I am not mistaken ). As I am commuting to Frankfurt daily, everything in Frankfurt would be great as well as the surrounding towns (Mainz, Wiesbaden, Offenbach etc) and everyting east of Frankfurt (Hanau, maybe up to Fulda).

I already consultet this marvellous metalist http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/120302, but as far as Frankfurt is concerned, there is nothing which would fit my bill yet. (The shop in the Zeil Galerie does not exist anymore.)

Thanks a lot in advance for your help,

happy gaming,

Martin

I've heard rumours of a new shop called JK Entertainment; address is Friedberger Anlage 1-3. I haven't had the time to check it out - if you do, please tell me what kind of place it is.

Of course, there's always the Pegasus Game shop in Friedberg:

Pegasus Media
Strassheimer Str. 2
61169 Friedberg
Tel: 06031/721760

http://www.pegasus.de/

Montag bis Freitag von 12:00 bis 19:00
Samstag von 9:30 bis 14:00

Hop on the autobahn, go north from Frankfurt, and you're there in 15 minutes.

It's truly a pity the Zeil shop closed down.

Hope this helps,
Jens

It's been a couple of years since I lived in Frankfurt, but while I can remember it had quite a few comic shops, it was sadly underesourced with regards to hobby gaming shops (in fact - I can't remember any in the city centre...and lacking a car I didn't get to the suburbs much).

I used to mail order all my stuff from the US...with the euro against the greenback at the time it usually worked out pretty well.

Sorry, but I am also not aware of any game shop in Frankfurt anymore. A friend of mine who runs FLGS in Mannheim, Mainz and Giesen told me he never understood it, but FLGS in Frankfurt just do not seem to last.

Thus Pegasus may really be your best bet.

Whom I can point you to is a club of tabletop gamers. They are into Flames of War, Lord of the Rings and whatnot. No idea if that is your cup of tea, but they may be more up to date to any news with regards to shops than I am.

They also occasionally hold board game days.

Furthermore you maybe want to turn to GHS e.V. http://www.ghs-kosim.de/index.html which is a German wargamer association. In case you never heard of it they for instance organize the Hexacon - one week of wargaming in Braunfels.

They may offer you some pointers whom or where to turn to in Frankfurt.

Hi all, thanks a lot for all the replies. Pegasus would surely be worth a try. Seems they do not carry wargames, but there's surely an interesting choice of FFG kind of games. Really amazing that Frankfurt does not have a real hooby game store...

All the best !

There used to be a shop in Frankfurt and one in Hanau too where I used to buy Games Workshop stuff, but that was 20yrs ago. You might check the Hobby magazines, like Fine Scale Modeler, they usually have listings of hobby shops in the back and sometime White Dwarf magazine does too. Cheers.
