So who in the wide world of Geekdom is headed up to the Falls this year?

It's February 7-10 (weekend after the Super Bowl)at the Ramada Coral Inn in Niagara Falls, Ontario. More info at the website below.

http://www.l2designgroup.com/nbw/NBW-INFO.html

It's a great, small gaming get together. The hotel is nice. It's the off-season, so it's cheap as well. (Shockingly, no one wants to visit Western New York/Southern Ontario in the dead of winter.)

Note: You might need your Birth Certificate to cross the border this year.

You need more than just a birth certificate to cross the border. Birth certificates and drivers licenses aren't enough.

Looks like a fun gathering. A little to far for me at the moment. I will keep this in mind for the future. I have always wanted to see the falls and of course go to the Anchor Bar for wings. Maybe I could combine all of this next year.

American driver's licenses and a birth certificate are enough, until 2009, if you cross by land. Check out http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html to confirm.

It looks like a great time will be had, I can't make it this year, maybe next year.

If you are driving in, you need your Driver's license and a BC. You only need a passport if you are flying in.

I only mention BCs because our County clerk announced recently that you need it now. (I've crossed the border 300 or 400 times and I've never been asked for it. I'm going to play it safe and bring it this time, however.)

It's usually the weekend after the Super Bowl. Feel free to Geekmail me next Fall/Winter and when I get the details, I'll pass them along. (I'm not the organizer I just like going to it.)

Games + Natural Wonder + Bucket of Wings = Good Time.

Just to clarify. You don't actually need anything but a driver's liscence.
Per the Buffalo News, if you try to cross the border without your birth certificate, they are going to let you through after lecturing you about the requirements and give you a sheet of paper explaining it. No need to panic if you forget. According to the News, this will continue for at least 3 months, and possibly longer.

Also, you don't need your *actual* birth certificate. A photocopy is fine.

As a native of Niagara Falls (NY), I strongly encourage you to visit Duff's in Amherst for wings. I give Anchor Bar props for their innovation, but Duff's are the bestest ever.

I found Duff's a little too salty for my taste, though it was years ago.

If any out of towners want to try a real Buffalo/Niagara treat, go for a Beef on Weck. You can get passable wings anywhere, Beef on Weck is rare outside of western New York.

Swings Wings on Bailey are the best in my opinion. They won the National Championship 3 years running, and have alternate sauces that are worth trying. My one and only encounter with Duff's was over cooked and soupy.

Its funny that you thought duff's was too salty but are promoting weck.

Looks like I'll only be there three days after all.
I've been bought off on Sunday with an overtime shift and I can save two Vacation days.

I ought to be there from late afternoon on Thursday through 9:30-10:00pm on Saturday. That will give me enough time to get over the bridge in time to make my regular work shift @11:00pm.

This was a good time last year and I sorely wish I could make it up this year, too. There are so many unique opportunities to game that I will miss, like another go at Die Macher. *sigh*

I have found chicken fingers to be a nice alternative to all of the controversy over chicken wings.

I'm looking forward to the Niagara Boardgaming Weekend, and hope to be there thursday night, friday night, and saturday and sunday, although I'm not sure about thursday.

I'll be bringing a bunch of Euros and hope to play some of the longer ones that are too complicated for my usual crowd (like Imperial, Power Grid and Goa) As for wargaming maybe this year I'll actually get a game of "Hammer of the Scots" or "Crusader Rex" in, if anyone brings them. Also last year it seemed too complicated, but after having played "1960: The Making of the President" I'd be interested in playing "Twilight Struggle" if given the opportunity.

I'm going to go, as long as the weather doesn't eat my face. I've been going back and forth, but I'm on the verge of burnout, so need a break.

If you have requests for games I should bring, let me know.

I won't be able to get there until Friday evening due to work.

I'm considering making the trip, but haven't committed either way yet.

And Duff's wings are REALLY good, but to be honest i dig fingers too, less work.

OK, I can bring them. I'm also going to bring Manager and Schoko & Co.. I won't bring Fricken Flippen Fruckadelphia or whatever it's called - the three-board, 15 player madness was something I don't think I can handle again.

Wings and beef on weck are two entirely different types of food though. I like my wings hot and messy, my kummelweck salty.
