I've been working on a simple game for a couple of days and would like to post it here for opinions and such....

I'm including images in the rules/description to make it easier and plan on saving the whole thing as a pdf. But I don't know how to attach the pdf file to a forum post. It's multiple pages, so I can't just insert an image because I don't think all the pages will show up.

So, how do I include a multiple-page pdf in my post for people to check it out?

Thanks,
jrbentley

You could enter it as a new game on the game database.
Then you could add the PDF as a file for your new game.

If you don't think its ready for its own entry, you can put the file in th UNPUBLISHED PROTOTYPE entry...http://boardgamegeek.com/game/18291

Then you could talk about your game in the forum and link back tot he unpublished prototype entry,

I would very much advise against creating a new entry for it. New games are only to be added if they he been published or are very likely to be. Web publishing is fine, if you plan to go that route, but a new entry is inappropriate (and likely to be denied) if it's just something you are starting to cook up.

Posting under Unpublished Prototype is fine. A link in your post to an external site for the PDF is preferable, but you might be able to submit it to the Files section on that page. It just might take a while to be approved, and it might be denied. Posting under Unpub Proto also has the benefit that other burgeoning game designers are likely to see your post and give you feedback. Creating an entry for a game no one has ever heard of is unlikely to be seen or responded to.

There is also a forum for Game Design, in case you want to post a link to an externally hosted PDF there, too.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.

I think I'll not create a new entry in the games database...I do not intend to sell this game, publish this game or anything like that...this is just a freebie I created to play with my family and friends and they suggested it might be posted here so others may enjoy it.

I'm really "computer-green" so I know nothing about keeping it somewhere else and posting a link to an external location...My preference is to simply post the rules here....I would do so just in a regular forum post, but the images in the pdf help...at least I think they do.

So, I have the pdf file ready, what's the easiest solution for this non-computer-saavy geek?

Thanks,
jrbentley

jrbentley, if you go to http://boardgamegeek.com/file/new/boardgame/18291 you should see a form to post a file to the Unpublished Prototype entry ([1]). Once it gets approved, the file will show up in the "Files" section of that entry.

As clearclaw so succinctly suggested, the Board Game Designer's Forum at http://bgdf.com is also a great place to talk about game design if you're interested, in addition to the forums here.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I've already uploaded the file to the "Unpublished Prototype" files section...don't know how long it takes to get it approved.
And I'm checking out the Board Game Designer's Forum...

Thanks,
jrbentley
