I'm with Gizmodo on this one.

I still think that the HD-DVD players have their place. If you're in the market for an upscaling DVD player, there's no reason NOT to pick up an HD-DVD player for under $100. If you're in the market for an HD player, however, Bluray is the only sane way to go, and the PS3 looks to be the best bet, aside from the ~$150 drive for us lucky HTPC owners.

There's still a lot of HD-DVD content out there as well that will soon be had for bargain basement prices. Let's face it - only so much content comes out each year, and HD-DVD has got a lot of previous years content ready already. It's not a forward looking purchase, but it definitely has it's place.
