Re:How is this for 2 players?
To answer my own question (and for the benefit of everyone else out there), Carcassonne: The City works very well for 2 players.
I played my first game last night and there were no problems at all. It did seem there was little incentive to try to join in on the other player's features, since no road or market ever grew immensely valuable. Rather, there was a lot of long-term planning around making your steward (aks - farmer) more valuable. Also, there is a lot of feature management to make sure you will be able to close and score something with almost any tile so that you can have better control over the walls and towers. This was quite interesting, as towers and guards can score pretty well and every wall added is setting up points for someone.
As it was our first game, we probably missed some of the strategies. We should have fought more over control of the premium residential areas, but overall it was a very good game.
