Another Session Report.

Pre - War.

Germany is trying to build up forces for an early knock out of France then they want to head east. Before they can attack trouble happens. While Hitler is busy getting Mussolini to join him, Russia convinces Poland to join them and also plays Franco-Russian Entente.
France also plays Franco-Russian Entente. Now Germany faces the prospect of war with Russia, France and Poland all at the same time.

Early - War.

Germany drives hard into France and Poland at the same time. Russia takes advantage and drives into Poland from the other side and along with Polish forces pushes the Germans back to the Polish German border.
By this time case yellow takes effect and Germany rushes all available forces to the Polish border. However, the Russian lines are not budging, forcing an early Barbarossa.

Mid - War.

Even though it looks really bad at this point, Barbarossa goes very well. Germany pushes hard and captures Leningrad, Kiev and Minsk. They hold strong in the north and threaten Rostov and Sevestopal in the south. The Early U. S. Entry threatens Italy. They send all available forces back into Italy. The U.S. lands forces on Southern Italy and captures Naples putting Operation Avalanche into effect. Germany sends a few units south to stop the U.S. advance.

Late - War.

U.K. forces land in Northern France and now there is a three front war.
Germany has played Festung Europa but got a terrible delay role and had to wait something like 8 turns for the marker to come up. They hold a +3 or +4 advantage at the time. The Russian forces are becoming overwhelming and Germany has to abandon Minsk and Kiev to even hold a weak front. The U.S. is stalled in Italy, but England opens Brest to Allied shipping and U.S. forces pour in. Paris falls and now the VP marker gets turned to the Allied Crusade side. As this happens, the No Retreat Marker comes off the turn track. The only hope to keep the game going is for Germany to recapture Paris which is held by a 3-step U.S. unit and a 2-step U.K. unit. They send all they have including three air force units, and destroy only three steps. The game ends in an allied victory in Spring of 1943.
