Europe expansion was the last Age of Steam map that we didn't try yet. With a map that large it seems to support 5 players easily. The rule were quite simple and the express link rule was easy to understand.

At the beginning all the players took 2 additional shares except mario who took 5 shares. He had a plan and were eager to see it since it's always tough to play with so many shares to support each turn during the income/expense phase. We were happy to see that Mario had a plan when he took the loco action and then connected London, Paris and Zurich of which 1 of the link was express so he was able to ship 2 good for 3 income each. Marc-Andre began his build in Spain with his urbanization, Martin in the center, Nathalie went east and Pierre choose to build in the Italy, Yugoslavia region. Distribution of goods was very tough and only Mario and Marc-Andre shipped for more than 2 income for the first round, Pierre didn't ship any goods at all. Every players builded his express link on turn 1 except Pierre. On turn 2 the bets went very high as Nathalie (8$) won the bet over Mario (7$) for the urbanization. Mario choose the important production action because he was able to reserve some goods for himself on Great Britain. Mario was also happy to be one of the first to build as he began his classical loop in the middle of map. Pierre was happy to win the loco action with his third place and shipped 2 goods for 3 income on this turn. Mario continue his nice network on turn 3 when he urbanized Luxemburg and made more loops that allow him to ship 2 goods for 4 income each. He won the urbanization over Marc-Andre who had the turn order. Marc-Andre did hesitate and thinked maybe he would bet over his turn order but he finally drop for the second place since he tought Mario would take the loco action but he was fooled by evil Mario. Nathalie then decided to build in the rich Great Britain region and she urbanized York. During this time Marc-Andre was able to ship 2 good for 6 income but he seemed short of possibilities since he couldn't connect outside the Iberia peninsula. Pierre was quiet in his area and finally connected Germany to give him some nice possibilities of deliveries. There was more action on turn 6 when Martin and Marc-Andre betted all their money for the initiative and the important urbanization action but Martin had 1$ more than his opponent. This was the last chance Marc-Andre had to connect France, this was a tough blow for him. We don't see this often in our group but 3 players already took their 15 shares. Marc-Andre finally won the urbanization on last turn but it was too late for him for a rally.

Mario won the game by a large margin but the other players continued to compete for second place. Money was scarce all game long and the distance were so great that the urbanization action was almost choose first on every round. It was really the most important action, maybe too important but we'll have to play this map more than once to have a good idea of this.

Final score:
Mario: 78
Pierre: 69
Martin: 54
Nathalie: 46
Marc-Andre: 42
