This game recommended by: D1-9

These rules make the game a more interesting if you are playing many (many) rounds.

Before starting the round the dealer announces the "goal" of this round and which cards may be peeked at. Play many rounds, keeping track of who wins each round.

The regular rules are deal four cards, all placed in a row face down in front of you. Your Goal - lowest score, all card values added together. Zero is a perfect score. To start, you may peek at the outside 2 cards of your row of face-down cards

The new GOAL options are
1. HIGH - highest score now wins. Perfect score with four cards in a 36. Word cards count as zero in any position.
2. HIGH LOW - after you look at your "peek" cards, you decide without telling anyone whether you will try for highest (36) or lowest (0) score. Your score at the end is how many points you were away from "perfect."

The new PEEK options are
1. INSIDE - Peek at the inside two cards of your starting four. Word cards in the outside positions are still not allowed if you are going for a LOW hand.
2. CHOOSE - Choose any two cards to look at
3. FIVE - Start with five cards instead (not recommended with more than four players)

We normally play 4 cards always, with a sequence of goals like LOW/outside, HIGH/outside, LOW/inside, HI-LOW/inside, HIGH/choice, HI-LOW/choice.

We always welcome comments and improvements.

Re:Variations - House Rules
We've played with the variation that you aren't allowed to discard when drawing from the deck. You must keep the card, even if it's a King Rat. This makes the decision of when to call Rat-a-Tat Cat a bit more tense.
