Aldie,

Couldn't you auto-generate polls (with a SQL query) for every game in the database, asking what the optimum number of players is, using the min and max number of players as limits, and place it in the general forum for the game?

Just a thought.

Some games do not have a published maximum. It wouldn't work in those cases.

Polls seem so "impersonal". I'd much rather read the discussion around a similar topic than to see just a meaningless number.

True, but most do. I'd guess it would work for 95% of the games in the database. Alternatively, just make every poll run from 1 to 7+ - that would be sufficiently detailed for 99% of the games.

I agree that there are subtleties about optimal player number that are better served by discussion. But the same could be said about the overall game rating just as easily. As a quick and dirty indicator, I think it would be very helpful.

Seems like a great idea to me.

Such a poll should contain the +ves and -ves: best with and worst/do-not-play with. I'd also like to see polls reveal individual votes by name.

This is a great idea! If it could be automatically constrained to valid numbers of players for each game, (including "more than x"), that would be awesome.

Glad to hear you're implementing this Aldie!
