For smaller sales, I do not stress too much. But when I have an international buyer with zero track record on BGG that is interested in a multi-hundred dollar sale I am more careful.
I have no reason to believe that the buyer is any other than totally legit. But I also have nothing to point to on the positive side.
I do not want to be a jerk, but I am nervous.

I like USPS money orders but am not sure how an international buyer could obtain one.
Paypal would be great unless the buyer is actually a scammer. Unfortunately, Paypal makes it fairly easy for scammers to reverse payment and sellers have little to no recourse.
Cash through the mail is obviously a terrible idea.

I have used wire transfer in the past and it is extremely safe for the seller (payment cannot be reversed or canceled), but it does cost both the buyer and the seller a bit more.

So, how do you execute international transactions with "unknown" buyers??

I've used Western Union money orders.
-They have a very simple form to complete.
-Payment cannot be scammed the way it can be done through Paypal.
-No Paypal fees.
-There are so many Western Union accepted places that you can send or pick up the money order just about anywhere.

I am willing to take that risk as I know that I am not a scammer.

So many things that man said were a good idea.

Another option if the buyer is willing, use a cut out. You ship the stuff to a known BGG person, he sends his money to you. After you cash the check, the BGG person ships the unopened package on.
