Well, momentarily at rank ' 4.394 out of 35.000 games, it is not too bad ...

At least one "9", three "8" and two "7" ratings.

Monopoly is on rank # 4.530, still with tons of "10"s ...

That hurt to watch. I'd honestly rather sit Indian style, naked on hot cement for half an hour than play that game.

Thankfully I've never met you, otherwise there would be a mental picture right now that I don't think I'd want.

Oh my word, I think I used to own this game as a kid! I have vague memories of playing with the credit card thing. All those years of therapy, gone to waste!! cry

Admittedly the game looks bad but I am thinking that with a rondel and an investor card all might not be lost.

I bought that at a thrift store. I played it, it was bad. I'd rather play Monopoly (by the rules). I sold it a yard sale.

Oh no, I must dissent. I have this game & play it with my 8 YO daughter, although we usually play a shorter version because as is, it IS too long. It teaches a valuable real life lesson - as fun as the credit card looks to be, the interest and penalties if you fall behind will pretty much guarantee you will lose the game if you use your credit cards and your opponents don't. (There's a Rich Uncle card that can get you out of debt, but you only have a 1/17 chance of drawing it, so it doesn't help as much as you might think.) My daughter thinks credit cards are stupid now, and she got to learn that lesson playing this with play money instead of learning it in college with her REAL money, so definitely some redeeming value!

My mom worked at a second-hand store when I was very young and I would hang out there playing with all the used toys and games. I distinctly remember playing with this one and its credit card machine.

I had this game as a kid, and I have tosay...it wasn't that bad.
I doubt it would hold much interest to me today I don't have it anymore to even approach that test...but I will defend it.
It was not that bad as a kid...really.

Except there are only 4552 games with enough ratings to be ranked. That puts it in the worst 3.5 % of ranked games.

The game being discussed here is Bargain Hunter. Just an FYI, if you don't feel like going to some other site (which, again, fails to name the game, and only provides minimal commentary to the effect of "this game sucks," then, embeds a video of the original TV commercial for the game) to see what everyone is talking about.

Has it ever happened in real life that people respond to a boardgame the way the pod people do in these classic commercials? I don't think so.

I'm glad to see some others who admit having played the game as a kid. I know I did... I remember playing and thinking the game was okay at that time. In all fairness, the game is TERRIBLE compared to what I play now, but there are definitely worse games. I played Quidditch: The Game somewhat recently and that had to be worse as Bargain Hunter had at least a decision or two to be made.

I don't remember that commercial, but I must have seen it, because I asked for Bargain Hunter for Xmas, got it, and still have it today. The credit card machine rocked--although the last time I pulled it out, the stickers on the inner wheel were starting to peel, making it hard to spin it.
