Aside from the inclusion of 2-player rules, does anyone know if there will be any other differences between the now out-of-print Uberplay edition and the anticipated Rio Grande reprint? I am most interested in finding out if there will be a significant difference in the component quality between the two versions.

I'm hoping for better art and presentation. The Uberplay version's not bad, but I would love a deluxe Ra set.

Art is not cheap, and as there exists artwork that is at least servicable, and in my opinion very good (it is functional - the different types of tiles are easily distinguishable - and has the appropriate Egyptian stylism, except the monuments which are OK) and paying for new art would economically crazy (assuming of course that rights to the original artwork come with the deal, which I'd be surprised if not, but not for the first time).

Personally, I would hope (or at least if I were buying a copy I would - I have an original RGG copy) to remove the blemish Uberplay added to some tiles, as I'm not a beginner and don't need it (nor ever did when I was) but I've no idea what plans there are in that area.

Of course the original RGG and Uberplay editions had different size tiles and board, and finish of tiles - and different suns. I actually prefer the original RGG edition for all of these, but either - or a good third option - would be fine by me.

The Uberplay edition had a cloth bag. This was a good addition. Maybe RGG will put one in this time.

I love the original artwork, so I vote to keep that.

And while I agree that the Uberplay "X" mark detracts, I like annotating to make clear what tiles stay and which don't. I have found that very useful when teaching the game. Maybe instead of the "X" add a hieroglyph for "temporary" or whatever is the closest you can come?
